"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin

E-Verify requires a complete data base be kept of every American, and for every American to get approval from the bureaucratic keepers of that list to work.

Our political "leaders" have failed to do their job, as per the Constitution, to protect the states from invasion. And in exchange for their dereliction of duty we're asked to give up our liberty. How far have we sunk when this is considered to be a good idea by those who call themselves conservative?

Facetious argument ~ every employer already keeps such a data base FOR IRS as well as FOR THE STATE TAX PEOPLE.

Isn't the E-Verify system already in place (though needing improvement) and utilizing the existing Social Security data base?

Government records are a matter of life. Without them, it’s not possible to keep track of simple things like who is authorized to drive, who’s the legal owner of a given piece of property etc.

So long as there is a simple mechanism to correct the database being used (for example, show your US passport or birth certificate to prove you’re eligible to work), we should move forward with a sensible bill like this.
