Out: We’re losing jobs to ATMs. In: We’re creating jobs via robotics

I’m not sure how to square this with this. Automation is bad for unemployment, except when it’s good for unemployment? Or full automation is bad, but partial automation is okay? Either way, it’s nice to see him talking up the job-creating benefits of technology.

I think he should run with it. Take over the ATM manufacturing industry, then massively expand it as part of a new jobs program. Coming soon: A cash machine every 100 feet, coast to coast.

Of course, there’s been a real debate about where to invest and where to cut, and I’m committed to working with members of both parties to cut our deficits and debt. But we can’t simply cut our way to prosperity. We need to do what’s necessary to grow our economy; create good, middle-class jobs; and make it possible for all Americans to pursue their dreams.

That means giving our kids the best education in the world so they have the knowledge and skills to succeed in this economy. It means rebuilding our crumbling roads, railways, and runways. And it means investing in the cutting-edge research and technologies that will spur growth in the years ahead – from clean energy to advanced manufacturing.

That’s why I’m here today at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, one of America’s leading research universities. Behind me is a display from a company called RedZone Robotics. The robots they make are used to explore water and sewage pipes, and find leaks and breaks before they become expensive problems. But the folks at RedZone aren’t just solving problems; they’re working with unions to create new jobs operating the robots, and they’re saving cities millions of dollars in infrastructure costs.

We wouldn’t be having this “tastes great” / “less filling” back and forth if we stopped SENDING OUR JOBS ELSEWHERE.

Good news for me, as I’m pretty an ATM is what I am. An ATM with a dick.

Pretty sure, I mean. That was a dicey enough post, without omitting key words.

It is funny how a so called progressive will despise certain technological advancements all for keeping us in a job. Progressives denouncing progress.

I honestly think that if one of his aides mistakenly fed a cookbook into his teleprompter, obama would deliver it as his state of the union address. and he wouldn’t know the difference.

Obomba’s union goons are sending our jobs elsewhere. When companies are forced to pay outlandish union wages, they go where labor costs are more reasonable. Economics 101.

You do not understand Obama.......

ATMs were the product of capitalism -— hence, they are bad.

Automation as a result of government funding is good.

The time is long past for pointing fingers as to who sent our jobs elsewhere.

It’s time now for everyone to sit down, shut up, and figure out how we get them back.

No offense.

(thinking of Daffy Duck standing next to Bugs saying: I live in a dump - no offense. My roommate is an idiot - no offense)

If I got that quote right.

Seriously. WHO CARES WHO IS AT FAULT.

Let’s just get them back.

Jobs are going to go where there are less onerous regulations...and Americans are quite addicted to passing more and more regulations.

Bye bye jobs, we hardly knew ye.

We must build robots that can defeat ATMs.

And no I wasn’t calling you an idiot. :)

Not at all.

But we need to stop so much talking, and start fixing.

The first step in fixing it is identifying the elements of the problem. We’d all be glad to buy American made, if our citizens could start making American products again.

That’s not how I see it.

The way I see it, the board at Walmart and other importing operations is lazy and unwilling to do business the old fashioned way — and so surrendered the real work to ChiComs.

And consumers are lazy and only want cheap crap.

We are committing suicide as a nation. Not by regulation.

By laziness.

Lotta robot news lately. Well, there’s this...

Guy goes into a bar, there’s a robot bartender.

The robot says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Martini.” The robot brings back the best martini ever and says to the man, “What’s your IQ?” The guy says, “168”. The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration and medical technology.

The guy leaves, but he is curious, so he goes back into the bar. The robot bartender says,” What will you have?” The guy says, “Martini”. Again, the robot makes a great martini, gives it to the man and says, “What’s your IQ?” The guy says, “100.” The robot then starts to talk about NASCAR, Budweiser and John Deere tractors.

The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time. He goes back into the bar. The robot says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Martini”, and the robot brings him another great martini. The robot then says, “What’s your IQ?” The guy says, “Uh, about 50.” The robot leans in real close and says, “So, you people still happy you voted for Obama?”
