A bunch of surveys have been done show that it’s between 1.5 and 2.3%, IIRC. And it’s fluid, since people “decide” they’re homosexual, and plenty of people “decide” they aren’t any more.
Of course all these statistics and estimates will be moot come 2014 when Obamacare is fully imposed.
That is because each of us will be fitted, at taxpayer expense, with two USB (Universal Sexual Bus) ports. One for sending. One for receiving.
And fabulously fab, unicorns and rainbows... we will FINALLY ALL BE COMPATIBLE.

And under the rules of Orrin Hatch’s “Can’t Touch Dis” amendment, government workers will be forced to locate at least one of the ports in that spot in the middle of your back that nobody but mosquitoes are able to reach. Otherwise, they would not have ANY time left to abuse the citizenry instead of themselves.
The Census has consistently recorded the gay population as 1-2% in rural areas and 2-3% in urban areas. Hollywood and the statist news organizations seem to claim anywhere from 10-25% based on comments like Begala or the average number of gays that one will see in an average movie. This is nothing more than projection of their life onto the rest of us. Unfortunately, they have succeeded in convincing the average Joe (that doesn’t really pay much attention to anything) that the gay population is huge, when it is not. From a biological perspective, any species that has a substantial portion that does not reproduce because of sexual preference would be short lived. But why let facts get in the way, when it is so easy to make stuff up in modern times.

Which is why God, Whose main currency of blessing is measured in offspring, pronounced such strict punishment for those of His chosen people who decided to plant dead branches into the bloodline of the prophesied Savior.

When I was a teen, I used to browse used book stores, of which there were many in my city. I remember picking up a book called, IIRC, "The Fifth Man", written by a homosexual male. Predictably, it claimed that 20% of the male population was 'gay'. That was back in the mid-sixties, so this kind of propaganda has been going on for a long time.
I think Kinsey, the homosexual propagandist, claimed an even higher number. His work has been thoroughly discredited, but the myth lives on.

That would be more like 90%
Between 3 and 4% sounds about right.
The bad news is that it adds up to about 10,850,000 very loud, obnoxious and despicable perverts, for the most part.

For instance, when he couldn’t get enough married women to talk about their sex lives, he redefined “married woman” as living with a man for more than a year.
Prostitutes were also included in his study of female sexuality – a fact Kinsey failed to disclose in his book.
Similarly, Kinsey’s study of American males included disproportionate numbers of prisoners – especially sex offenders. Again, according to Jones, convicts constituted as much as 25 percent of Kinsey’s subjects.
Jones writes: “In fact, he had devoted much of his time to interviewing members of the underclass, including drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, pimps, gamblers and the
like.”
The sexual revolution was launched with research based on data drawn from the dregs of society.
