As violence and riots sweep through sections London, the rest of the western world can only watch stunned. Earlier, we showed you some of the terrifying pictures taken by British photojournalists, but there’s also tons of video, recorded by Londoners on their cell phones and Flip cameras from rooftops and windows. A journalist however, Sky News’ Mark Stone, was brave (foolish?) enough to go right down on the street and record a pretty stunning video as he forces his camera right in the face of a group of looters.
Fortunately for Stone the area he was in (Clapham Junction) doesn’t seem to be, as of his filming, as bad as some other areas we’ve seen footage of. What’s amazing about this video though is seeing him forcing the looters to speak about their actions. He claims not to be a journalist and, sure enough, the anger in his voice makes it clear this isn’t typical objective reporting. “Are you proud of this?” he keeps asking. “We’re getting our taxes back,” the woman yells back.

Unfortunately even if it ends today the seeds have been sown for future riots because they know what they can get away with and the pain they can dish out.
And not just in London but everywhere.

Exactly! This is what happens when citizens are deprived of the right to defend themselves. Shoot some of these thugs and it’s over.
Why do I have the feeling that these morons have not paid any taxes but are just parasites on productive society? Do they not understand that if they keep stealing that producers will stop producing?
This is unquestionably an example of the domino effect. These people do not look or sound like hardcore types. It’s just because authority has clearly taken a powder and everybody else is getting away with it that every other dissaffected yob, chav or hoodie decides to join in as there won’t be any consequences.

Civilization depends on people obeying mores. If culture is degraded and respect for law non-existent there will never be enough cops to enforce order.

That’s similar to the L.A. riots. The flash point might have been rage over the Rodney King verdicts, but after a few hours and especially into the second day, it was basically “free day at the store.” I remember video footage of whole families of Central Americans (based on the neighborhood) coming out of stores loaded down with disposable diapers.
