He was scared, but the 12-year-old Boy Scout still knew what to do when he got lost during a Utah wilderness outing: He built a shelter made of tree branches and wood to get through a cold night and he covered himself in dirt to stay warm...

Didn't see this in search.
With so many of these child-gone-missing stories ending in tragedy, I thought it would nice to post one where things turn out for the best.
Thumbs up to the Boy Scouts, too. Their training served this kid very well.

Cool.
I actually felt pretty confident about this turning out well when I saw the story on the news.

I believe he has 4 bros that are eagle scouts. Is there any doubt he will join the ranks of his brothers??
All these kids should be carrying phones and GPS. Cheap life savers!!
To: DemforBush
Very good news! Thanks for posting! Glad he was a Boy Scout.

While the elites are opposing the Scouts for refusing to allow homosexuals in.

The kid has raw improvisational and survivalist traits of a US Spec Op guy.

Holy shiet, reminds me when I got lost up in Alder lake New York, 1971 Troop 293. Raining like crazy and I built a lean-to and covered it with my rain coat and it worked perfectly. What always got me about that was how bats kept dive-bombing me. The creepiest though was when I was sitting in the lean to I would shine my flashlight around and *pow* a group of deer suddenly appeared staring right at me. I tend to remember screaming after that but remember more what those deer made me do in my pants! LOL! Oh yes, and my scoutmaster collapsing down a tree after I was found like his life has just been saved. LOL

Very nice. Glad all that stuff I used to read in the Boy Scout handbook wasn’t just “BS” ;-)

I’m not getting far out into the real wilderness around here but twisting an ankle a couple of miles from the road could be a problem.
