Palin Will Attend Iowa Rally After O'Donnell Is Disinvited (Again)
RealClearPolitics ^ | 08/31/2011 | Scott Conroy

Posted on 08/31/2011 1:26:40 PM PDT by Hawk720

After a dizzying day that saw members of her inner circle threaten to pull Sarah Palin's participation in a rally Saturday in Indianola, Iowa, a source close to Palin confirmed to RCP that the former Alaska governor will in fact attend the Tea Party of America event, as scheduled.

"We had some long discussions with the organizers; we talked about our concerns and worked them out, and they stepped up their game today," the Palin source said.

Two sources close to the former vice presidential candidate had told RCP earlier Wednesday that Palin’s involvement in the rally was “on hold,” due to concerns over how the hosts were handling what has been billed as a major event.

“The primary concern of the governor is the people that are coming to this event,” one source had said. “The planners are an issue that’s gotten in the way.”

The organizers caused a stir over the last couple of days when they first announced that former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell had accepted their invitation to speak at the event before Palin. They then disinvited O’Donnell before re-inviting her to do so.

After Palin’s associates made it known that Palin was reconsidering her participation, the organizers once again disinvited O’Donnell.

An O’Donnell aide told RCP that the former GOP candidate for senator in Delaware had texted Palin to ask about the rapidly developing situation but had not received a response.

While it is clear that O’Donnell’s proposed speaking slot was not acceptable to Palin’s camp, the Palin aide denied that anyone on the Palin team had explicitly demanded that O’Donnell be removed from the speaker’s list.

Palin’s concern arose, the aide said, when an O’Donnell aide suggested to event organizers that Palin wanted the Delawarean to share the stage with her.

I don’t see it as necessarily having anything to do with announcing or not. I just see Palin as an A-level political superstar and CO as something other than that level.

I’m paying attention and this story is running on local boards as well.

For now I simply don’t know what to make of it and don’t have a position except I will say that Palin stood by McCain in his reelection as a matter of loyalty.

She endorsed COD and I find it hard to believe she’d run off all because COD was dissed by the media or might cast a bad light on her.

But there’s some suggestion that the COD people insinuated a conversation with the Palin people that didn’t happen but the COD people deny.

For now I just don’t know what to believe except I could have predicted that those with COD derangement syndrome would come out like the hooting hollering monkeys that they are...these are the same folks who NEVER admit that THEIR guy Mike Castle was the real source of the problem.

On some level I suppose the Palin deranged syndrome folks get on a high horse and hoot and holler as well while this whole thing is going on between anonymous sources and the truth is in the mix somewhere.

It may, or may not, come out.

One thing I will not do is cast aspersions on either COD or Palin as I know COD personally and she is a very nice young woman and I’ll not deviate from this assessment, no matter the pressure to do so. And frankly, I like Palin as well.

I think it’s in poor taste for the deranged ones to come out of the woodwork but they always do, they always do.

Which is not to say if I see video of COD slapping Palin silly, or vica-versa, I won’t change my assessment but I’m just going to let the crazies entertain me for now.

Yep. And she is a fighter so that’s not the problem. I am just responding to the earlier post which made it seem like the dems have thrown the worst at her and she had made it through etc etc. The dems have thrown nothing at her yet compared to what is in store for her. They are just getting started on Perry.

This is nothing new and happens each election. This would happen no matter who they perceive the front runner(s) to be. Palin is not even a candidate yet. So when she announces the dem dirty tricks machine goes into high gear. No one can take much stock in some notion that Palin has made it through the worst of the dem hazing process.

Bottom line, Palin doesn’t want O’Donnell anywhere near her.

I don’t blame her for a minute. Palin is a professional who will be President. O’Donnell is a loser who continually runs for office and loses. She has never worked a day in her life.

Well, apparently CO told them she had been texting Sarah, and was on good terms with her, and since Sarah Palin’s very public endorsement of CO is probably why she won the primary, I think they could be forgiven for not realising that the two were no longer on speaking terms.

I certainly had not read anywhere that they weren’t.

Also, since nobody in the palin camp is speaking on the record about any of this, we really don’t know what happened officially.

THis is another reason why I don’t think Palin would ever have planned to announce at this rally.

You make your OWN event to announce a presidential run. You can’t take chances that the organization you are speaking at won’t mess things up.

OD Handler’s? Does this lady not have any horse sense to get the hell out of the way? Why would she even consider stirring up a controversy. If she had any smarts, the moment she heard this was looking bad for Sarah and everyone, she would have backed down.

I think we all knew she was a flake, but this pretty much ices it. Sarah should not have backed her. We lost a sure senate seat there.

No. Bottom line, only an imbecile like OD would not realize that what she is doing is not good for anyone involved. Sarah owes her nothing. Let her speak at some point down stream, but why would she or “her handlers” expect to be on stage and just before Sarah? What the hell is she doing in Iowa anyway? Another non story becoming a big story because it has to do with Sarah Palin. Shows how extremely well known she is, doesn’t it?

While I don't believe she will be President (that's for Perry) you are correct in that she is a power player and doesn't need to hang around O'Donnell. O'Donnell benefits from being on the same stage as Palin, it keeps her star alive and drags Palin down.

Relax, Palin is a power player, O'Donnell is dead weight who could only make Palin look bad and she is trying to hang on Palins coattails.

Really. According to the MSM, both women are morons. But now they have portrayed Palin as a petty, vindictive moron.

I wonder if people ever get tired of being played by the MSM

I'm in your camp.

I cannot explain the willingness of Freepers to throw COD under the bus at the drop of a hat. We witnessed her fight the good fight daily against forces not arrayed under other candidates, with the possible exception of Sharron Angle in Nevada.

COD conducted herself at all times like a conservative woman, trying not to get in the gutter with her opponent and her detractors. She held every position Freepers supposedly hold dear, and she was totally qualified to be a Senator, under the Constitution, in her beliefs, and in her love of America. Unlike some Senators, like Barack Obama was and almost every other Dem Senator.

Delaware is almost hopelessly blue, but here in southern DE, people like you and me are trying to to make it red. I spoke to Reince Priebus, the RNC Chair, when he was here in Georgetown on August 20th, and he is trying to do the same thing. I told him I hoped he could help us do the same thing in DE that he did in Wisconsin by helping to make the GOP victorious there, electing Scott Walker a GOP Senate and Assembly in blue state.

COD would never have voted for START II, the Dream Act, or the repeal of DADT like Chris Coons did in the lame duck session, nor would she ever fight to overturn the DOMA like Coons is trying to do.

But, heck, she's a witch and a flake, doncha know.

All spoken by folks who have never been in the arena, nor who have ever had the literal political forces of hell arrayed against them.

COD tweeted this morning about all of the miscommunication by the Iowa event organizers, and she is being very gracious about it.

Of course, her detractors here on FR were just only too eager to pounce on every false bit of information about her, and every lie that was put on blogs, etc. about this event.

There are now millions of conservatives who now know the truth about Tokyo Rove, and here in DE,there is no longer a Mike Castle in politics after 41 years, or a RINO GOP party boss like Tom Ross in power.

All thanks to a flake and witch.

You betcha.

My better judgement tells me not to respond to you since you tend to go off the wall when I do, but here goes anyway.
When organizing an event like this, a POLITICAL event, you don’t take someone’s unsubstantiated word about another person for ANYTHING. You verify. That is YOUR reponsibility. It would have taken all of two minutes to ask Sarah Palin, who after all is THE huge draw to this event, to either confirm or deny. That is called due diligence. They didn’t.
As a result, they nearly blew this event out of the water. The media had a field day with it, ultimately, even as late as this morning, using it to make CO the victim and Sarah the bad guy.
It also didn’t help that this crow idiot kept flapping his gums adding confusion on top of confusion throughout the entire livelong day.
Sarah knows that thousands of people have paid for tickets to this event. There was simply no way she could cancel. NONE.
Sarah is a nice woman. SHE is professional. But if it was me, the first thing I would do upon my arrival is smack ken crow silly. Then again, I have nothing to lose.

I would not cast aspersions on O’Donnell either. This was in no way her fault. This entire fiasco can, and shouldd be, laid directly at the feet of the inept organizers of this event. The fact that this idiot, crow, was keeping up a running conversstion with the press throughout this debacle which HE caused, and blamed Sarah Palin for, is mind boggling.

Thanks for the insight. I like COD also and have a feeling this so-called feud is media hype.

However, COD suffered a near fatal blow in her senate run and maybe needs to scale back and try a run for the House to regain credibility.

You know me and husband went to the Priebus thing. Where were you?

Even husband, a curmudgeon of highest order, adored Priebus.

But you’re right....the media makes COD a bad guy and it’s like they’re obsessed. They jump up and down like hyenas and do the nanny-nanny-boo-boo.

I had a chance to spend an entire day with Christine just me, her and a couple other ladies. She’s a very gracious and Christian person. I’ll be the first to say that the witch commercial, and she’ll be the second, was really a bad idea. No matter how much our own side carries on like monkeys I’m just not going to deny what I know. O’Donnell is a most pleasant person, a joy to be around. When Freepers, who should know better, join the mass media with their hooting and hollering, well I consider it embarrassing.

I doubt COD will run for anything else. There’s still a lot of nanny-nanny-boo-booers out there though they got their heads handed to them. But on that they won. They love to beat on a conservative woman based on nought but what the lamestream says.

And again, they NEVER acknowledge that this concept of disguising a Democrat as a Republican was a poor idea, or that Mike Castle was a real problem. COD defeated him and too bad.

It’s amazing, utterly amazing, to see Freepers lamenting constantly about the media and how it distorts reality yet first chance so many do the nanny-nanny-boo-boo like the howling monkeys the media wants them to be.

I’m at a loss.
