After a dizzying day that saw members of her inner circle threaten to pull Sarah Palin's participation in a rally Saturday in Indianola, Iowa, a source close to Palin confirmed to RCP that the former Alaska governor will in fact attend the Tea Party of America event, as scheduled.
"We had some long discussions with the organizers; we talked about our concerns and worked them out, and they stepped up their game today," the Palin source said.
Two sources close to the former vice presidential candidate had told RCP earlier Wednesday that Palins involvement in the rally was on hold, due to concerns over how the hosts were handling what has been billed as a major event.
The primary concern of the governor is the people that are coming to this event, one source had said. The planners are an issue thats gotten in the way.
The organizers caused a stir over the last couple of days when they first announced that former U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell had accepted their invitation to speak at the event before Palin. They then disinvited ODonnell before re-inviting her to do so.
After Palins associates made it known that Palin was reconsidering her participation, the organizers once again disinvited ODonnell.
An ODonnell aide told RCP that the former GOP candidate for senator in Delaware had texted Palin to ask about the rapidly developing situation but had not received a response.
While it is clear that ODonnells proposed speaking slot was not acceptable to Palins camp, the Palin aide denied that anyone on the Palin team had explicitly demanded that ODonnell be removed from the speakers list.
Palins concern arose, the aide said, when an ODonnell aide suggested to event organizers that Palin wanted the Delawarean to share the stage with her.

ugh, burp
Of course, to the casual observer, the moderate and independent voters that aren’t paying a lot of attention and just see this story in passing, this is going to look like Sarah is being a prima donna, and doesn’t want to share the limelight. It could have/should have been handled a lot more quietly and with more tact...
Makes sense..the left was already preparing “coven” ads and t-shirts..
why?

One thing to consider is that at no point was anyone working for Governor Palin quoted making anything close to an on-the-record comment about this issue.
See you in Iowa.
***********Palin Ping**********
Regardless of the reasons, I suspect certain other players may have had a hand in all this. And I believe that the organizers, by their admission, were not very well equipped to deal with all of the subtleties of the big game.
This is just getting ridiculous. If the orgamizers had bothered to ask Palin, they would have known better. Instead, they did this:
They scheduled CO to speak immediately before Sarah. They said they had squeezed her in. That means that they had to take time away from someone else and that she would be the last person on stage before Sarah. THAT was ridiculous. They could have scheduled her anytime, but to choose that particular time was the height of stupidity.
“One thing to consider is that at no point was anyone working for Governor Palin quoted making anything close to an on-the-record comment about this issue.”
And perhaps that’s an indication of a giant problem. If she wants to be taken seriously, she has to be able to get out in front of these ‘silly’ stories and either handle them quietly behind the scenes, or have a spokesperson who can quash it before it becomes an issue. As a previous poster said, now she just appears to be a giant prima donna who doesn’t want to share the stage with another big name.
I think you are right.
No candidate or major player is going to share a stage or prominent spot with her.
Iowa will most likely vote for the bummer.
She might not announce on Saturday, but she's running.
If she were just going to coronate the RINO-cowboy King, she wouldn't care a whit whether O'Donnell was there or not.
“Uh, hello, Mr Tea Party official, this is Michele Bachmann, and I’m hoping to speak at the same rally Sarah Palin is scheduled for, now that you’ve gotten that interloping third person out of the way. And unlike either Sarah or Christine, I am an officially announced candidate for President of the United States, and furthermore, I was born in Iowa.”
Now THAT would make the original brouhaha look like a genteel garden party...
ken crow, founder of this tea party is a perry supporter. He said as much to someone he thought could get him to meet perry...
He has been leaking like a sieve from the gitgo. Spreading rumors, many false. He should be called on it.
That is about it. Nobody meant to slight O'Donnell, but she doesn't belong there.
I'm trying to think of an analogy for poor Christine that won't get me banned, or at least pulled.
