Perry's Drudge problem
Politico ^ | October 4, 2011 | Ben Smith

.....Drudge's editorial decisions replace Perry's message of solid, inspirational, conservatism with an inept, flagging candidate. And while Drudge doesn't exert the broad influence over the scattered media landscape that he did over a more concentrated media five or ten years ago, he still wields immense power, ....

Drudge's relationship with Romney's campaign manager is seen by some Drudge-watchers as a kind of Rosetta Stone, but I've never thought he was quite that predictable. Perry could have emerged on the page as the larger-than-life cowboy political hero his campaign depicts. Instead, he's the bumbling, cartoon version of that character.

My 90 year-old father brought that up yesterday. Whatever sales tax you pay in your city for apparel, Gatorade, and lawnmowers, could be 17.5% under Cain's plan.

Remind anyone of Canada?

Is everyone up for 17.5% sales tax in Texas???

Considering that I pay a larger percentage than that in federal income taxes, heck yes.

There was a little prep for the first debate. But yes, I know for a fact he wasn't prepped for the debates therefore he wasn't prepared. His team was warned. You could most definitely tell in the last 2 debates he was not prepped. There have been several hired now to prepare him.

if a candidate is so fragile that he can be “destroyed” by Matt Drudge, best to find out now before he becomes our nominee.

I really wish Jim DeMint would get into the race.

"Perry could have emerged on the page as the larger-than-life cowboy political hero his campaign depicts. Instead, he's the bumbling, cartoon version of that character."

And he did it all by his lonesome, although some would like to blame the messengers.

So, it appears Drudge, knowingly or not, has an undisclosed horse in this race. He’s becoming no better than the people who made him famous.

All you anti-Perry people are going to get us stuck with Romney. Does that make everybody happy? By the way, Palin couldn’t win even if she ran.

Perry doesn’t have a Drudge problem. Perry has a Perry problem.

Um, yes he did. He said that those of us who don’t support his in-state tuition programs for illegals were heartless. Are you really that much in the tank for Perry?

True that.

Perry comes across as a “real man” not the pretty face of Romney/Edwards.

To me he comes across as another pretty face with an expensive haircut. Doesn't matter to me how much hunting and fishing he does. I just don't see Rick Perry advancing the conservative cause. So far, he's been all about raising money with the same establishment fat cats that brought us candidates McCain, Dole and Bush. Just more of the same old, same old.

Of course there is no Romney “lean”. There is no need for one, since he has been the front runner from the get go— just take out his competition. By default you prop up Romney without ever mentioning his name.

ReaganBaby26-- Thanks for the compliments. I am a fulltime Web developer and I had two weeks off. After spending a lot of time looking at all of the B.S. stuff being thrown around about Rick Perry, I decided that to create a marquee site as a central repo on information about Rick Perry. I have to credit Emile Bonnecaze at The Pesky Truth for his help with much of the FAQ. And, I appreciate all contributions to The Rick Perry Report. **Pimp Mode on** The site is going to rock and roll on the Google SERPS in a few months. The weekly email newsletter starts next week. Sign up because you don't want to miss it! **Pimp mode off**

Is the only way to be a solid conservative is to ignore the children of illegal immigrants?

Maybe, since their parents chose to ignore our laws. Why not go home and get in line for a visa, play by the rules, like the millions of other non-Americans waiting to come here - or who are here now (like my spouse).

They DON’T come here to get a college discount.

So don't give them one, give it to a hard-working AMERICAN kid!

They are the byproduct of parents who are illegal and the kids happen to have absorbed the values of the American Dream and want to get an education rather than sell drugs or join gangs.

So their only choices in life are going to college, at in-state tuition rates, or selling drugs in a gang? Lame.

Why bastardize that dream for the children?

Why bastardize our laws for them and their parents? Anything else we should allow them to do with immunity: have anchor babies, get a driver's license, forge social security documents to get a job, register to vote, and vote (no ID required)...

... oh, never mind.
