Roy Rutland was on his way back to police headquarters, westbound on Northwest 36th Street, when he saw an impact up ahead. He saw a flash of brake lights and an animal rolling on the street.
Rutland, a Miami-Dade detective, pulled up to the spot impact Monday night and rolled down his window.
"I saw this beautiful shepherd on the ground and yelping so loud in pain," he said. "Two otherdogs were there and they were barking, almost like they were asking for help."

I was at home one day when a Sheriff Deputy came to my door. She had a dog in the car that someone thought belonged to my neighbor who was away from home. We drove to a park to find my kids who knew the dog better and after about a half hour determined that it was not the neighbors dog.

Fabulous story and I hope they either find the owner or find a new owner. Beautiful Shepherd! Kudos to the Miami-Dade officers!

Now you’ve gone and done it - made me cry. I liked the part about the praying for the dog. How sweet!

Literacy and clarity of thought are no longer required by J-schools and media outlets. If you can convincingly lie about a Conservative, you got the job, baby!

My brother is a veterinarian in a not so good neighborhood. A policeman patrolling the area passed by about 3am and saw that someone had tied a dog to the light pole in front of his clinic. The police put the dog in the back seat of his patrol car until the clinic was open in the morning. Then he dropped it by. Nice!

My vet brother and his 2 associates are good guys. They take in dogs and cats and find them homes all the time at no charge to anyone.
