Republican presidential candidate and businessman Herman Cain says he is open to joining a GOP ticket as vice president, but not if the other name on that ticket is Rick Perry.
Cain told the National Journal, "Based upon Governor Perry's position on some issues, I would not be comfortable being his vice presidential nominee."

Time will tell about Governor Perry. He is definitely on my list of conservatives, and he is (with Santorum & Bachmann, in my judgement) the most viable CHRISTIAN Conservatives in the race.
He went to that prayer meeting despite criticism, and he gets a positive mark on the ratings sheet for that courage.
The Mormon Church has severe restrictions on african Americans until 1978. They could not be priests because according to Brigham Young they bore the mark of Cain. Wonder if Herman Cain is ok with that since he’s so offended at the name of a location on Perrys hunting lease?
I think i get the game now, Romney is their boy, Cain is the powerless bone they throw us,,, and the fix is in.
Sarah, don’t unpack your suitcase just yet. Fish a month or two.
I believe the story is being twisted and taken out of context...In the interview I saw, Cain was responding to a question by the liberal journalist but then went on to say that he is in the race to win, not to become the second fiddle...
Perry was not vying in 2008.
What, Perry is worse then Myth? Romneycare Myth? Pro-abortion Myth? Gun grabber Myth? Global warmonger Myth? Or is Myth agaisnt all that now? Is Cain willing to serve as the paperback Myth’s VP or the hardcover Myth’s VP? Both? Either?
Perry is wrong on some aspects of the immigration issue, but at least he says what he believes and isn’t doesn’t lie about it the next day like Cain.
. . .hardly. Cain is just mercifully, beyond the inanities of 'political correctness'. He is more a 'straight shooter' than the Texan.
Yes, and we’ve had him as governor for 11 years and time has told us...he is not perfect...but a great statesman.
“flout” not “flaunt”
“flout” is where you mock and oppose the thing
“flaunt” is where you swagger and boast of the thing
He should have called Sarah a couple of weeks ago and told her, as it might have influenced her decision.
IIRC, the "anyone but Perry" comment was made prior to Cain's surge.
Just remember Herman, Obama is heartened by any GOP bickering.
I think he meant to say what he said - "a lack of precision of language" sounds like something Obama would say when caught in a blunder or a lie.
Cain’s little game of demonizing Perry...is just a game of a slick talking radio talk show host...come to the front
999 and this DEMONIZING a person over a OLD reference painted on a rock...are both just a slick display of just shit slinging and mirrors...being played by a smooth talking huckster...
GOOD BYE “Mr. Have to Have a Sense of Humor” thin skin “white guilt card” playa’
You have proven to me, and I am NOT a person who SUFFERS from White Guilt...
That deep down you are no different than any black that when faced with a challenge that begins to border on as a personal “dysfunction” (in your case relegating yourself to a VP position - NOT a good sign of a winner supposedly going all the way to the TOP)...as being the FAULT of a “whitie” somewhere....
In this case Mr. Cain...you have NAMED your WHITIE...and it is UNBECOMING...of a dysfunctional candidate...to attack Perry with your “veiled” race baiting games...
Yep, Perry is already a master at "Pay to Play" and "Crony Capitalism". It wouldn't take him long at all to fit right in with the Washington crowd.
As it turns out, there isn't any haze. He seems to change his mind when it suits him. I ran across the following post from Victoria Delsoul on that long Levin/Palin thread on 10/5. It really made an impression on me.
I don't think his convictions run deep as he has demonstrated with all that flip flopping as of late. In addition, when he commented about the second amendment he noted that those matters should be left up to the states to regulate or legislate. And he comes across as weak in foreign affairs as well.Cain has been backpedaling since before he announced his candidacy. Check the latest list of his recent flip flops:
He supported TARP and said: Earth to taxpayers! Owning stocks in banks is not nationalization of the banking industry....Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing. We could make a profit while solving a problem....The free market purists objection to this is that it smacks at government control of the banking industry, which is called nationalization. They are correct.
Once it was proved that TARP was a disaster, Cain backpedaled and said that he didn't know they were going to pick winners and losers.
Asked about having Muslims in his cabinet, he replied that he would never have any Muslims in his cabinet if he were President. Last Friday when Jay Leno questioned him about his statement he backpedaled, remarking that he had originally meant jihadists, not ALL Muslims, and was speaking about terrorists and didn't qualify his statement.
Lets not forget that Cain doesnt like Catholics either:
Cain's communications director, Ellen Carmichael, stressed to CNN that Cain "believes that everyone in this country has the right to practice whatever religion they choose."Cain called blacks brainwashed. When criticism of his comment started surfacing and when questioned about the remark by Chris Wallace on Sundays Fox News about it, he said: Some black people that I run into, not all ... they wont even take my 9-9-9 brochure because Im that conservative, that Republican. And she tried to re-characterize Cain's comments.
"Just as he would never appoint a Catholic who is loyal to the Pope before he or she is loyal to the Constitution, Mr. Cain would never appoint a Muslim who believes Sharia law trumps our U.S. Constitution," Carmichael said.
Just a few months ago, Cain didnt think Al-Awlaki should be targeted by the armed forces, saying "He should be charged. And since he's an American citizen, he should be tried in our courts." When asked if he considered it legal for Obama to order al-Awlaki killed, Cain said, "In his case, no, because he's an American citizen." Now he agrees with Obama and praises him about the killing.
On Fox News Sunday, he was quick to support the gossip and malicious innuendo regarding Perry's recent media scandal without bothering to check the facts, and gratuitously called Perry 'insensitive' and implied that he was a racist. He observed that there "isn't a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, until before, I hear, they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country." And now he says: "All I said was the mere fact that that word was there was 'insensitive,'"
Lol, can this guy spin or what? At this rate he will surpass Mittens for the flip flopper award.
Perry, at least would propose actual conservatives for USSC. Romney won't.
Tell you the truth I am not really happy with any of them , maybe I’m the only one.
“...That Perry, he is simply disgusting....”
I’ll bet he even farted in the Governor’s Mansion more than once too.
That seems to be typical of Cain. Say something stupid (to be charitable), then walk it back when people take offense. Palestinian right of return, Perry’s supposed racial “insensetivity”, the VP remark, etc. And the RATS will have them all ready to go against whomever the Pub nominee is. I know “politican” is supposed to be a dirty word, but there is a skill set attached to the job. Maybe having some kind of political experience might be a plus for the eventual Pub nominee.
