Cain Nomination Would End GOP Race Issue Forever
Newsmax ^ | Monday, October 17, 2011 | Deroy Murdock

...In the 18 days between the Sept. 22 and Oct. 11 Republican debates, Cain granted interviews to six broadcast-network programs, the Media Research Center reports, plus 18 national cable-TV news shows. Cain appeared twice on CNN, thrice on the Fox Business Network, and 11 times on the Fox News Channel. He also butted heads with an especially confrontational Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC on October 6...

Since Ronald Reagan left Washington in 1989, Republicans have yearned for a presidential nominee who could present free-market ideas with passion, energy, and commitment. They have longed for someone who would labor for limited government.

And they have sunk into disappointment and simmered in rage as two generations of Bushes surrendered to their patrician instincts by ducking fights and letting the left bludgeon them until they barely had a cheek left to turn.

Herman Cain embodies the Reagan approach. He is confident, tough, and combative, yet sunny, funny, and buoyant. Cain permanently could demolish the Democrats' vile, vulgar lie that the GOP is the Vatican of U.S. racism.

Those who oppose President Barack Obama are not wrong, misinformed, or misguided; rather they are bigoted, Democrats too often contend. Last month, Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., claimed that pro-tea party Republicans in Congress want to see blacks "hanging on a tree."

If Republicans nominate Cain, the Democrats' default argument against the Right utterly implodes. Liberals then might have to battle conservatives on the merits.

Cain does not need to win 60 percent or even 40 percent of the black electorate. If 20 percent to 25 percent of black voters support this successful, self-made son of a maid and a chauffeur, the Democratic base dissolves, and victory belongs to Cain and many down-ballot Republicans wise enough to clutch his coat tails.

Clarence Thomas’ nomination worked so well to dispell that myth didn’t it?

Right. Just like the GOP backing Clarence Thomas for the last 20 years has.

I disagree...

I think it would do more to wake up many Blacks into realizing they are backing the wrong party.

The attacks on the GOP for racism would grow exponentially in an effort to get them back on the plantation.

Two points. The Republicans fought against slavery and Jim Crow and southern DEMOCRAT oppression of blacks for a hundred years. Did that end the race issue? Hell, no. The Democrats and their prostitute press just lied about it, until most people forgot history.

Second, I am NOT voting for or against anyone on account of race, or sex, or anything of that kind. I don’t care WHAT race or sex. I’m voting for them because they are the best candidate. Or I’m voting against them because they are the worst candidate.

I know this is well meant, but I’m really bothered by it. Herman Cain stands and falls on his own merits.

Sure, the Democrats play the race card, lying their heads off about it as they do so. I don’t think we need to get sucked into that game.

Right. Just like the GOP backing Clarence Thomas for the last 20 years has.

Yup, that and having the first black female Secretary of State , that helped us too. </s>

Truth be told, nominating Cain won't do it, but if he wins and takes at least 10% of the black vote .... then I think we have something. The DNC race card will finally have an expiration date.

That is a really BAD reason to elect Herman. There are many better reasons.

As long as the media and the democrats are in charge of definitions, the conservatives will always be the villains.

What a lame attempt to persuade GOP voters to Cain. I remember some pretty solid black conservatives and black Republicans who voted for Obama.

Armstrong Williams wont say if he did but he certainly gave reason to vote for Obama.

J.C. Watts waffled

Condoleeza Rice defended Obama during the election.

Colin Powell endorsed the SOB

It wouldn't even surprise me if Cain voted for him.

We are the party of principle, and whether Cain gets the nomination or not, we will always be demonized as racist because we expect everyone to pull their own weight.

Cain's pandering to inner city blacks in his Empowerment Zone's in which he said himself he favored specifically because blacks lived there and later in the same interview he liked the idea because they were predominately African American (but I think he prefers to be called black, he just calls other blacks African Americans I guess). He believes in social justice too. Government leveling the playing field by giving certain colors certain benefits.

The interview of Cain I am talking about was on OCT.14th on CNN.

Reading this, I found the title to be poorly worded, it's not about the perception of GOP racism. There is a small part about individuals and how they perceive their own racism.

The entire article is full of interesting possibilities about the formidable Herman Cain, Deroy has some good points.

I don't think anything short of a miracle and the abolishment of democrat government schools, will erase the stain of the Republican racism that's promoted by the lying media and the demonic-party that needs the black vote for their own use, but Herman Cain could sure give open minded and hard working black Americans several opportunities to see a successful candidate and President who's truly a unhyphenated AMERICAN, who just happens to have been born black and made himself an American success story!
