Call it a baby stimulus. Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy has declared Thursday Diaper Need Awareness Day as part of a campaign by The Nutmeg State to pressure Washington into providing free diapers to low-income families. Supporters will host a fundraiser and a panel discussion in New Haven on the public health risks for babies whose diapers aren't changed frequently enough.

Wasn’t this ‘reported’ a few days ago from a satire website? Now it’s for real?
Anyone else remember sometime durign the Clinton administration, there was this really bad hgeat wave in the south, several people ( primarily elderly) died..and Clinton got a bill passed to give ACs to poor people.
Wonder if there was ever a final audit of that program? How'd it turn out?
Gov. Malloy is an idiot.
Keep giving things to the poor, and they’ll never develop the self-reliance they need to get rich.
The satire was a response to the legislation, which was introduced first.
Can risk losing any WIC or Welfare revenue that’s now going to Lotto and liquor taxes, now can we.
I remember to afford diapers and formula WE DID WITHOUT.
Cut back on movies, dessert, eating out ...whatever. Whatever it took.
I am sure it was as efficient and transparent as the “weatherization” program from the Stimulus where in just one city $20 million “weatherized” 13 houses. It was similar nationwide.
Where did the money really go? The MSM and GOP won’t ever ask.
It was in Florida and the AC’s were showing up still in the boxes at Pawn Shops.
You will notice these Conn officials don’t propose doing this at the state level.
I have been waiting for your response to similar threads for a LONG time. Way to go!! You are right on the money. I too do this to get by; like you said, ‘whatever it takes’.
Here’e an idea. If you can’t afford diapers don’t have a baby. See how simple that is?

Why, so they can sell them on a street corner for twenty-five cents on the dollar to raise money for drugs, just as they currently do with the baby formula given to them through the WIC program?
You said it, IT IS for real. CT government at work. SARC.
Here’s an idea from another poster -
if you can’t afford diapers, do without something for yourself.
Actually, if CT wants to tax its own citizens to give “less fortunate” mothers in CT diapers, go for it.
This can’t be justified under Article I, Section 8 of the federal constitution, though.
Just send them some litterboxes. It would be cheaper.
I thought it was tradition that the baby daddy paid for diapers —they won’t even take that little bit of responsibility now??
