What ever happened to the GOP's 2012 presidential wannabes?
Washington Post ^ | 11/23/11 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 11/23/2011 7:17:52 AM PST by Retro Llama

Another debate, another episode of "The Dating Game." Will the winner be contestant No. 1, 2,... 8?

The truth is, everyone has always known who the Republican nominee will be, but we enjoy the game. For a while. By now, self-caricature has evolved into full-blown self-mockery....

Herman Cain is a one-man clown car. God bless and peace be upon him....

Newt Gingrich is universally known as a man of ideas. He is also known as a man of mostly bad ideas.... His recent remark that the Occupy Wall Street crowd should get a bath and a job—as though Americans are willfully unemployed—will be viewed as so callous as to disqualify him for employment in the Oval Office....

Rick Perry has game-show host etched in his face. Adorable and silly, he's wasting his time governing the state of Texas. He needs to harness his inner giggle bunny and hit the stage. There's hardly any air between "Bring it!" and "Come on down!"....

Ron Paul? He is our Jiminy Cricket, the nation's conscience who utters unspeakable truths. In the coming Republican administration, Paul will head the newly created Congressional Office of Reality. Every day he'll release a summary of government stupidity, called "The Daily Scowl,"....

Rick Santorum will host a weekly Fox show called "The Gathering Storm.".... Regular features will include a "Paranoia Thermometer," a terrorist tracking map and a real-time "Conspiracy Busters" segment in which Special Forces swarm suspected terrorist meetings while viewers watch. Suggested soundtrack: the theme from "Jaws."...

Which brings us finally to Michele Bachmann and Mitt Romney, one of whom will be the nominee and very possibly the next president. Although both candidates have perfect hair, the nominee will not be a woman.

I think "get a bath and a job" was right on the money, given what we've seen of OWS types....

His recent remark that the Occupy Wall Street crowd should get a bath and a job—as though Americans are willfully unemployed

They spent two months hanging around the OWS hell holes. Doesn't seem like they made a very productive use of their time in terms of finding employment or improving their value propositions.

Parker has NO, zero, nada, zed, NONE, credibility.

Parker help Romney destroy the GOP ticket in 2008.

Americans curse her and her Team.

but lacked the courage to say out loud - Palin should step down:"

and youthful good looks to the ticket.
Romney would seem a logical choice."

Romney's was surpassing. With heartfelt humility and poetic eloquence,
he tracked the nation's struggle with and for freedom."

Precisely, those who are unemployed in their 40’s and 50’s are different than those at the OWS sites. They are he spoiled refuse of middle and up[per middle classes complaining about their student loans and their stolen I-Pads. They should be the ones bathing and working at McDonalds and the taxi companies.

Those long term unemployed in their thirties and up are in need of a moving economy, most of those have taken the part time job at Home Depot and other low income places, and they resent the hell out of the spoiled pricks at OWS.

I wish that Gingrich or someone would have replied “sedition” when asked about a threat to national security that isn’t on the Presidential radar.

With obvious cover and encouragement from the White House, this smelly band of miscreants known as the “occupy’ movement will take bolder and more provocative actions until they manage to create a truly violent confrontation.

All as scripted...

I was never more disappointed than I was this morning where I saw newt (from last night) embrace and endorse Amnesty for illegals with absolutely no way to take what he said out of context... I was disappointed but not surprised... so I guess newt is now in romney’s league... I will never vote for either of them... EVER!

kathleen parker is an obnoxious twit pretending to be conservative. She’s a liberal pig and her commentary is neither sad nor true. It’s obnoxious propaganda.

I don’t agree with any of this article, and am weary of journalists and people like Karl Rove telling voters who can and can’t win the nomination, and the presidency. Anybody else remember when we were told of the inevitability of a Dukakis win?

Karl Rove exemplifies the problem itself.

Rove cost the GOP the Senate.

Rove should be banished from the GOP. Let him get a real job. If he and his globalist ilk haven’t exported it to China yet.

total BS, Cain is not a clown!

He is being depicted in the media as one. There is a BIG difference!

Think about it, the media controls the narrative, and they get to decide to let a slip up slide or to blow it up into something it’s not.

You are being manipulated.

Here is a list of the top 10 Obama gaffs:
1. How many states? Vice President Dan Quayle was virtually laughed out of Washington for misspelling potato back in 1992, yet Barack Obama made a more elementary flub when, during the 2008 campaign, he said: “I’ve now been in 57 states—I think one left to go.’’

2. Hero soldier mix-up: While commending troops at Fort Drum, N.Y., for their completed deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, President Obama said, “A comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.” Wrong hero. Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti was killed in action, another soldier, Staff Sgt. Sal Giunta, was the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor that fought in Afghanistan.

3. What year is it? During a trip to London’s Westminster Abbey, President Obama signed the guest book and dated it 24 May 2008. Oops. It was 2011. (Maybe he was wistfully dreaming about his 2008 election campaign at the time.)

4. Look at the map: Not only does Obama not know how many states there are, he also doesn’t know where they are. During the 2008 primary campaign, he explained why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” Obama’s home state of Illinois, and not Arkansas, shares a border with Kentucky.

5. What language is that? In April 2009, on one of his many foreign trips, President Obama mused, “I don’t know what the term is in Austrian” for “wheeling and dealing.” Oops, Mr. President. There is no Austrian language.

6. Twister casualties: After a devastating tornado hit Kansas, Obama discussed the tragedy without help from a teleprompter, saying, ‘’In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died—an entire town destroyed.’’ He was only off by 9,988 as the twister killed 12 people.

7. How old is Malia? The President last month thought he was so clever, unfavorably comparing Republican procrastination on the debt limit to his daughters finishing their homework early. In his remarks, Obama made a reference to daughter Malia, saying she was 13 years old, when at the time she was 12. Imagine the press reaction if Michele Bachmann made a misstatement about any of her five children or 23 foster kids.

8. Special Olympics insensitivity: The President called and apologized to the head of the Special Olympics, after making this insensitive comment following a game of bowling: “No, no. I have been practicing. ... I bowled a 129. It’s like—it was like Special Olympics, or something.’’ Maybe he should have also apologized to bowlers for his feeble effort.

9. Faith confusion: No wonder so many Americans are unsure of the President’s faith, as he seems to be confused himself. During the 2008 campaign, during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Obama said, “What I was suggesting—you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith,” before Stephanopoulos jumped in to help, saying ‘’your Christian faith.”

10. Health care inefficiencies: During the health care debate, President Obama explained all the benefits of ObamaCare, saying, “The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system.” Mr. President, we already have enough inefficiency in health care and, yes, your “reforms” will only make it worse

now imagine, if .... say ROMNEY had said those and the media didn’t want him to be our candidate... they would simply have hyped those gaffs 24/7 as PROOF that Romney was the biggest idiot that ever walked the face of the Earth, a clown with no business running for president!

You see how easy it is?

They can destroy anyone they wish, anytime they wish, as long as people let them do their thinking for them.

SPeaking of whom, it appears that Charlie has gotten himself a gig with the Law firm Morgan & Morgan (a big lefty Lawfirm) that provides big time fundraising support for Barry Zero.

Go figure.
