On a certain number of points, French society has moved considerably to the right. That is borne out on the question of safety: 56% of the population agrees, according to IFOP, with the statement: "You don't feel safe anywhere" (+6 points in one year; +16 since 2006).

...for almost 7 in 10 French people (66%), "there are too many immigrants in France". Finally, the rejection of Islam has never been so firm: 76% of the population thinks it "is spreading too much in France"; 86% are opposed to the state participating financially in the construction of mosques…

Le filthy koranimals are in for a tough election year in France.

Jamais le rejet des politiques n'a été aussi important. Jamais, non plus, l’incertitude n’a été aussi grande.

Pace Google, I would translate it as this:

Never has the rejection of current policy been so strong. Never the disquiet greater.

It doesn't change your conclusion, of course. It also explains Sarkozy's desperate attempts to convince Germany to underwrite the French economy before elections hit.
