Norah Jones Sings 'America the Beautiful' at Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony

I know I’m getting a bit long in the tooth (almost 64) but I am pretty sure that when we learned “America The Beautiful” when I was in school, the line was “purple mountains’ majesty” and not “purple mountain majesties.” I’ve heard the latter quite often, notably in the famous Ray Charles version, but I think that the former makes more sense. Any other old-timers out there who remember it the way I do?

She is so beautiful and her singing style is equally so. I’m surprised that Buzz and the boys are getting this award now. Why not twenty years earlier?

Perhaps Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins should have gotten this award 20 years ago, but John Glenn was still a US senator and tainted by the Keeting 5 scandal.

I simply liked her performance of it.

Had no knowledge of her political positions, but the entertainment industry is full of lefties.

Robbie Shankar (spelling?) is her father. I would be cautious about making judgements about Indian's when it comes to politics. They tend to be a bit more complicated than the average Hollywood Leftie.
