More charges possible in alleged Antigo marijuana ring
Antigo - It was a routine tip as far as drug investigations go.
Last summer a Milwaukee drug dealer told authorities he had sold marijuana to someone who was reselling it in Langlade County.
As sheriff's detectives in this community of 8,000 began to investigate, they were shocked to see where the trail of marijuana led - to teachers and coaches in the Antigo and Merrill school districts.
"This was a surprise to everyone, including us, especially with all of the names involved," said Langlade County Sheriff Bill Greening. "A lot of people were surprised and shocked, quite frankly, that teachers and coaches were allegedly involved with the distribution of marijuana."
Antigo's head football coach John Lund, 47, who was also principal at two elementary schools in the district until he was placed on leave in late November, was charged Jan. 20 with four counts of manufacturing or delivering marijuana, three counts of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and one count of maintaining a drug trafficking place.
Scot D. Peterson, 55, an Antigo special education teacher until his retirement last June, was charged with 26 drug offenses including 23 counts of manufacturing or delivering marijuana. Peterson was an Antigo football coach last fall who, along with Lund, coached the Red Robins to a 7-4 overall record and second place in the Great Northern Conference.
Peterson admitted buying a total of 15 pounds of marijuana from a Milwaukee drug dealer over the last five years, which he split up and sold or smoked himself.

Wisconsin Drug Pusher in Schools Ping
If you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list, just FReep mail me.
Well hell, if we could just pay these poor teachers more money, they wouldn’t have to resort to a life of crime to pay the bills.
Great family values here. Public education nowadays really draws the cream of the crop.
This illustrates the problem with any criminal enterprise. Someone sooner or later rats you out unless you have a strict non-disclosure agreement in place (ie you get wacked if you talk).
Why don’t school districts have random drug screening of its teachers, administrators and employees? Oh, unions... never mind...
Guess that old song we sang on the schoolyard was right after all:
Marijuana Marijuana
LSD LSD
Scientists make it
Teachers take it
Why can’t we...Why can’t we.
Interesting. There was a rash of teacher retirements this past year due to the collecting bargianing changes made by our excellent Governor Scott Walker. Why do I suspect that this guy retired at 55 and is currently getting paid the same as before he retired.
Sad to say, it has been this way for quite some time. During my stint inside the teaching certificate mill, I was personally aware of a large number of serious dopers who still satisfactorily fulfilled the feelgood/credentialing requirements of the day.
The public schools and the prisons continue to accelerate on their converging paths.

Well, it isn’t always the public schools. Today my newspaper published names and pictures of sexual predators who preyed on school kids in the county and a couple of them were employed by one of the Catholic high schools.
Legalize it, and they can put it in the “green” offerings in the school cafeteria.
Drug test the Obama administration.
So it's a case of adults selling things to other adults that want to buy them. What kind of commie opposes that?
Legalize the weed and abolish public schools.
No wonder the teachers have been bitching about having to pay part of their insurance and retirement, that would eat into their drug money. shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If tax payers really looked at the “value” offered by public schools for the money spent they would demand that the schools be closed. If parents really looked at what the schools are teaching and what their children are exposed to daily they would not send their children to the public school. But it is easier to go with the flow and force ourselves to turn a blind eye to what the public schools are really doing to our children and our financial structure in the country.
As a culture we sat by and watched the teachers have their protest at the capitol...while calling in sick...these were teachers from large cities as well as small towns...
The point is that teachers are people just like the rest of us...some are good and some are bad...and their is no special requirement that teachers have to be good people...so why would we be “shocked” that some of them are willing to sell drugs to their students? I am more shocked that parents are still sending their children to public schools...
