Volvo has come out with the world's first commercial airbag designed to protect pedestrians rather than drivers in a car accident. That's just one of many smart safety features on display in its latest model of the Volvo V40 compact car. The pedestrian airbag inflates across one-third of the windshield and raises the back of the car hood as soon as the bumper detects a collision with a person. Such technology could cut down on lethal encounters between humans and cars that lead to U.S. pedestrians making up 12 percent of all traffic fatalities

I think we have the plot for the next MTV Jackass episode.
LOL... no doubt
Kids aren’t allowed to sit in front seats of vehicles because they air bag could kill them - will they now not be allowed to cross the street?
How long before the nanny-state gov't decides this is just great and mandates that ALL new cars have this?
And how much will it cost us?
Some blonde runs over me at 20 miles per hour.... I hit the airbag over the window as I bounce off the car and on to the pavement... then she can’t see and she runs over 17 more people before she thinks to hit the brake. This sounds like something Obama will and his department of transportation will require on all new vehicles at some point....
Yep... you posted that while I was typing.
LOL
How’s it work on deer ?
Means you gotta start shooting them instead of running them down... I guess....
remeinds me of when I used to take my four and the neighbor kids to the lake. Did you say “double-buckle?” an 8 passenger with at least 13 buckled in and the kids in the middle row holding both the truck inner tubes out the windows.
We drove the back way...on tiptoes.
That’s not the FIRST human airbag....there’s one occupying the White Hut right NOW!
In-For-Ma-Tion!
Pedestrian airbags? That’s gonna take all the fun right out of the old honeymoon.
:)
I’ve got a better approach.
The car will detect them before they are hit, and send a text message to their phone: “Look up! There’s a car coming!”
Will the airbag know which way to deploy in England?
