CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wisc. (WEAU) --The conceal carry law has been in effect for just 4.5 months but already a state advocacy group is saying the law needs to be altered.
The Milwaukee based group Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort or WAVE says it wants access to the list of all conceal carry permit holders.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the law prohibits the state from divulging the identity of any concealed carry license holder unless it's necessary in a prosecution.
Sine November 1st, the DOJ has granted more than 83,000 conceal carry permits. It’s denied about two percent of all applications it received, which totals 97,000.
Jeri Bonavia with Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort says she wants to know who is receiving those permits.
“When this law was being discussed we were promised that the people who would get these conceal carry permits would be the most law abiding people in the state. And we want to know whether or not that's true,” Bonavia tells us.
But people we talked to, both those who have a conceal carry permit and one that doesn't, agree that's a violation of privacy.
“I don't think they should,” Martin Brill says.

I have no problem telling people that I carry a concealed weapon. In fact, I’d rather you know that I DO protect myself and my family.
I think we should demand a list of everybody on food stamps, section 8 housing and medicaid.

You want to know if I’m carrying or not? You can find out just as soon as you publish a list of everyone I’m supporting on welfare, every illegal I’m supplying with health care, everyone that has registered as a member of the socialist (aka Democratic) party. These people are far more dangerous to us as a society than anyone responsible enough to carry.
Well I can only speak for myself, but I am getting absolutely sick and tired of ALL of these shrieking groups of ignorant a$$ holes Demanding this and that and thinking that whatever they and their money grubbing "atty's" say has massive relevancy.
Send them a list of those denied; they're the dangerous ones!
I like it! What possible reason could they offer to deny THAT request? Oh, that's right; privacy. Then we can throw "privacy" right back in their faces on the concealed carry issue!

This was done in a small newspaper in Greenville, NC. My father’s name was published along with everyone else’s. He called the editor to complain and some punk-ass screamed, “WE ARE THE FIRST AMENDMENT!!!!”
Me, personally, would have shown up whereever that guy was and let him know that I was on that list he published. Accidentally shown up, ya know?
By the way, my father had someone in his home doing some work and his gun was stolen. Coincidence?
All you have to do is put in an Amendment to publish the names in the local newspapers of everyone who gets an abortion.
Watch them cry out for “privacy rights” as I belly-laugh at the irony.
I ask Liberals to tell me what it is that they cherish, or love, or “need” the most and I ask them how they would feel if I used the Government to take it away from them because I don’t like how it makes me “feel.”
how about a list of all the names of the members and financial supporters of this group?
How about a “rob me first” google map?
Maybe folks should start asking for list of people who got marriage licenses in gay marriage states.

How about in return for a list of all conceal carry holders they provide a list of all members of the advocacy group.
