I think the reason is simple: given that devices like the iPad (I have an iPad 2) start up almost instantly, within seconds people can peruse the latest news from multiple sites around the world and check on the latest Twitter and Facebook postings in only a few minutes, faster than even doing it on a real computer (which requires you to boot it up before going on the Internet).

No wonder why print newspapers and print magazines are dying....

I read while the boss shops. while I work out. when I’m bored, which is a constant ....

All from my stoopit smart phone.

Haven’t read the newspaper in years. Most of the news is 12-24 hours old.

My operating theory is that access to the net via easy to use devices such as the iPad allow people to not only read more news, but they will invariably read news from more non-MSM sources than ever before. Just as important, they will tend to join discussions of news items or social topics and neither those forums nor the topics being discussed are controlled or moderated by the legacy gatekeepers.

In other words, liberal media has lost exclusive control of the topics, themes and memes. People are more free than ever to develop their own news resources and to come to their own opinions. This fact is driving the left frantic.

Does reading more news correspond to a rise in anti-depressants?

thank god. I just wish that we had a little more fire power on the right. meaning we need some big real estate to compete with liberals. We are lacking on the web and it seems like conservatives are a shrinking group online. Talk radio still leading the charge.

Your local news paper was never more than a way for someone to sell advertising, and most often get a tax exemption for doing it, while claiming they were doing a public service.

That anal puckering sound you hear is the MSM getting the bad news that they are no longer the only game in town.

Breitbart is here baby!
