“The president, adopting what he described as the language of conservatives who fret about judicial activism, questioned how an “unelected group of people” could overturn a law approved by Congress.”

It’s called Checks and Balances President Doofus.

Good gravy he’s a moron. “Unelected” Supreme Court-so everything they’ve ever ruled on is now null and void? No more Roe v Wade!

It’s called checks and balances, Jacka$$!

Unprecedented? Hardly.

I’m glad he’s taken this tact and wants to attack the supreme court. Now he does sound like a dictator. “How dare the court strike down laws in accordance with the constitution that my liberal congress passed with almost 60 votes in the senate? What do we need this branch of the government for?”

Keep at it. He must have left Jarret at home with Barney Frank. There is no stopping him. His tele is on strike.

Good news. This indicates he did not get a secret phone call from the SC saying they voted to keep Obama care. If anything the call was bad news for him.

Liberals like Obama have no problem with unelected liberals thwarting the laws or striking things down, or bypassing Congress, when it works for them.

He’s either making certain they will strike it down, or he’s gearing up to use it as a major election theme for 2012.

I hope the SC is paying attention to his repeated threatening language. I can’t believe this would-be thugocrat is in the Oval Office. He is single-handedly making the case for “anyone but Obama”. I can’t believe I’m saying this, as much as I despise Romney. Threats to the SC are my line in the sand.

questioned how an "unelected group of people" could overturn a law approved by Congress

Because the Supreme Court's constitutional responsibility is to overturn any overreach by the elected branch of government

I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," Obama said.

I wonder if he could tell us what, specifically, is "unprecedented" about the supreme court overturning a law passed by our "democratically elected congress".

ALL federal laws, by definition, have been passed by a majority of a democratically elected congress; otherwise they wouldn't BE laws. And I KNOW the supreme court has overturned at least one federal law at some point in the past...

Very hostile/threatening statement from the czar-in-chief:

President Barack Obama voiced confidence Monday that the Supreme Court will uphold his health care law in his first public remarks on the issue since the three days of oral arguments last week.

Obama suggested that the high court would be guilty of “judicial activism” if it overturned the law, and stressed that he believed the justices would see the individual mandate as an integral part of the law.

“We are confident that this will be upheld because it should be upheld,” Obama said at a joint news conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

President Obama preemptively slammed the Supreme Court as a bunch of "unelected group of people" who will have turned to "judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint" if they decide to strike down his signature legislative achievement, the healthcare reform act.

Obama was speaking at a trilateral event with the Prime Minister of Canada and President of Mexico.

The bill barely squeaked through the House and Senate, and he claims it was passed by a "strong majority"??

I've got my doubts about him as a con law professor, but it's real clear he wasn't very strong in math.
