Hirono defends sex-selective abortions
Washington Examiner reposted on Hawaii Free Press ^ | June 8, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

Rep. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, a candidate for U.S. Senate, defended sex-selective abortions and criticized Senate Republicans for opposing abortions instigated because the fetus is a girl.

"To many cultures, particularly the Asian culture, this presented the prospect of a doctor grilling an Asian woman for example," Hirono, a Japanese immigrant, said at the Netroots Nation convention. Hirono made clear that she did not oppose sex-selective abortions. "How can we criminalize a decision that should be up to the woman and her doctor?" she asked.

Hirono also maintained that "there really is a war on women in Congress." Although President Obama also opposed the ban on sex-selective abortions, Hirono's position is farther to the left than Obama's.

Ever wonder how far liberals can flame and continue to get voted in? Mazie Hirono actually approves gender-select abortion and is a current member of the House while running for the U.S. Senate in November.

First off, Rep. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, a candidate for U.S. Senate, it is murder and now you’re advocating selective murder.

Second.......Uhmmmmm, there is no second.

If its murder, then there is zero reason to ban only some of the murders...and in doing so keep the murderers palatable to a group (feminists) that will suddenly decide murder is bad after all if this continues. If its a blob of tissue, then it doesn’t matter.

I wan’t abortion to stop, period.

Banning only abortions that the leading proponents of abortion find objectionable is one hundred and eighty degrees in opposition to the goal of ending abortion outright.

how the worms come out of the woodwork...

everybody knows it wouldn’t be a matter of “grilling” and such things would take place on the q.t. i.e. don’t ask don’t tell.

but this is really useful for flushing the worms out of the woodwork.

It appears some people are so connected to the culture of their ancestors that they are incapable of functioning as Americans

So you had to wait until the baby was determined to not be a boy before you decided this was evil?

I have a different perspective than you do.

My take is that all abortions are murder.

Tell you what.

I wont support this measure, but I will support ending abortion outright. You can still save the little girls that matter to you, but you have to go along with saving little boys as well.

This woman complains about a war of women and her contribution to the defence of women is to sanction the killing of baby girls. If the issue wasn’t so deadly, the irony would be hilarious.

That is NOT how I feel at all!

Destroying an innocent baby, regardless of sex is an abomination.

The specific targeting of baby girls is yet another sad example of how far the world has sunk. It cheapens life even more to make a selection based on sex....so frivolous...so evil.

I remember, a few years back, when the IRA was setting of bombs all over the place in their terror campaign, they bombed a parade in London and wound up killing a half dozen soldiers and a few horses. Well, wouldn’t you know it, there was widespread revulsiion at the killing of the horses, and the whole thing was a PR disaster for the Irish.

Is it wrong that people cared about the horses and not the men? I figured that if that was what it took to get through to people, I would not worry about that.

You know how on old TV shows, whenever a baby was about to be born, people would scurry about and inevitably somebody was told to go boil water? What’s the boiling water for? I never got that...

Well, in many Asian cultures, somebody is sent to go get ashes. The fine ashes are placed on a plate by the mother so the baby can be smothered after birth if it is a girl.

How far is Rep. Hirono willing to go to support traditional Asian practices?

I’m just amazed they’re finally talking of the victims as boys and girls ,, weren’t they undistinguished blobs of tissue that might become a giraffe or something before now?

“Every child a wanted child.”
“Its just a blob of tissue.”
“Quality of life.”

This throws every excuse for abortion right back in the feminists face.
Hirano has (correctly) perceived that for any of the mantra phrases spouted by the left in support of abortion to hold water, they have to still be true here. Harano is holding onto abortion with the chips down.

This one is going to be internally divisive within the ranks of the abortion lobby's biggest support group. The more they are hammered with it, the more of them will leave the fold.

How about “The decision should be between a woman and her doctor”?

What does her doctor have to do with it? I see my doctor once a year, and I am not that close with him. I wouldn’t think to ask him before I bought a car, much less a baby.

For hot towels to wrap the baby in. Because people didn’t know when the baby would actually be born, they would have to keep the water boiling and the towels would have to be kept hot - hence, they had to use ALL the towels in the household.

“... people would scurry about and inevitably somebody was told to go boil water?”

My Great-Grandmother was a midwife. Yes... it is to wrap up the baby (the towel was warm not hot) and to wipe down the Mom. However, it served another purpose as well especially with first time Dads. Some tended to become distressed and they were told to do “helpful things” like boil water, get sheets, etc... It was a way to keep their minds occupied while the Mom and midwife did their job. Focusing attention on something other than the birth pains....
