The United Nations is putting the finishing touches on an Arms Trade Treaty that transcends borders and may even trample our Constitutional right to bear arms.

It can try, but that right is kinda hard to trample if the people aren't willing to let it be.The armed people that is.

From our cold, dead hands...

I'd prefer it were their hands, and the rest of them, that are cold and dead when the smoke clears. That's what the second amendment was designed to help ensure.

he can’t sign it unless the senate ratifies it with a 2/3rd majority vote. Good luck with that.

Not quite. With treaties the President acts first, then the Senate. He could sign it as soon as the final form is available. Probably will. Presidents have been known to enforce treaties while they are still un-ratified, as long as the Senate hasn't actually voted them down.

I believe it also says alittle something about ALL enemies foreign and domestic

Actually the President's oath doesn't say that.

But mine did.

The Constitutionally mandated Presidential oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

My oath:

I, El Gato, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

The American Revolution began when the British King attempted to disarm the Colonists.

We’re not the men our forefathers were.

“he can’t sign it unless the senate ratifies it with a 2/3rd majority vote. Good luck with that.”

Legally, 51 Senators present form a quorum and only 2/3 of those need to approve. That’s 34 Senators. He’s got that many. All he has to do is figure out how to ensure not enough that oppose it are present.

People seem to think that the gun grab will be people coming to take away the guns... and that is not how liberals work. Liberals know that would never work... liberals know strategy, they know how to boil a frog.

Obongo's 2nd term will have gun control pushes. People who have unhealthy lifestyles will pay heavier taxes. Guns and ammo will be a health care issue and taxed like cigarettes. The UN arms treaty will be broadened to have internal domestic regulations by the administration. Registration, regulation, taxation, judicial rulings, they will do it one stoke of the pen at a time, one bang of the gavel at a time.

Americans will tolerate any act of tyranny as long as they can be eased into it.

Wave of the future? I fear our public schools are in the process of raising up a generation who respect the UN more than they do the US Constitution, particularly the Second Amendment.

Just look around here on FR. There is quite the schism on the Right and a great many who say steadfastly that they will never vote for Romney.

That would be me. I'm not voting for Romney; no way, no how.

Thereby handing Obama his second term.

No, it is not me handing it to Obama; it is the GOP not pushing a candidate worthy of my vote: I will not again vote for a slimeball like McCain. (And Romney is a slimeball.)

Besides, for all intents and purposes Romney is Obama.

They believe a viable 3rd party candidate will appear like magic, solidify the Right and beat Obama. As much as I'd like that to happen, I'm a realist.

Who said anything about a 3rd party candidate appearing at all? I certainly don't think that. I am just unwilling to "hold my nose and vote" again; I will instead vote with my conscience and if that "makes my vote useless" then so be it: though that is an indictment on the American system itself, if voting for one's conscience is useless.

Who did you support for Pres???
I was backing Bachman or Newt until they dropped out—then Santorum.

By the way, they now all endorse Romney. I guess they are just rinos too.

It seems to me that you would rather see the ship go down than to stay afloat until we can get some conservatives in the Congress to plug the leaks—even if Romney is in the WH.

I hope they know that it would be a suicide mission. It really would be.

May God have mercy on them, because we sure won't.

The American Revolution began when the British King attempted to disarm the Colonists. We’re not the men our forefathers were.

Speak for yourself; only 3% of the colonists actually took up arms. 1/3 remained loyal to the crown; 1/3 supported Independence, but didn't do much; and 1/3 remained indifferent.

America is a warring nation by default; if don't have enemies to fight, we'll fight ourselves. The looter class covets their welfare; the bitter clingers covet their guns. Both groups will fight to the death to keep that which they covet.

he can’t sign it unless the senate ratifies it with a 2/3rd majority vote. You might want to read this reply of mine.
This is the relevant section... The PRESIDING OFFICER. A division has been requested.
Senators in favor of the ratification of this treaty, please raise their hand. (After a pause.) Those opposed will raise their hands.
With two-thirds of the Senators present having voted in the affirmative, the resolution of ratification is agreed to.
Mr. THOMAS. I thank the Presiding Officer, the Senator from West Virginia, and the clerk.
By the way, just for information, these treaties were all approved by the Foreign Relations Committee on October 4 and 5.

A show of hands without a quorum call and with no recorded vote. Those present voted, not the whole Senate.
