Internal Military Emails Reveal Details On bin Laden's Burial November 21, 2012
WASHINGTON Internal emails among senior U.S. military officers indicate that no sailors watched Usama bin Laden's burial at sea from the USS Carl Vinson and traditional Islamic procedures were followed during the ceremony.
The emails, obtained by The Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act, are heavily blacked out, but are the first public disclosure of government information about the Al Qaeda leader's death. The emails were released Wednesday by the Defense Department.
Bin Laden was killed on May 1, 2011, by a Navy SEAL team that assaulted his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. One email sent on May 2 by a senior Navy officer briefly describes how bin Laden's body was washed, wrapped in a white sheet, and then placed in a weighted bag.
According to another message, only a small group of the ship's leadership was informed of the burial.
"Traditional procedures for Islamic burial was followed," the May 2 email from Rear Adm. Charles Gaouette reads. "The deceased's body was washed (ablution) then placed in a white sheet. The body was placed in a weighted bag. A military officer read prepared religious remarks, which were translated into Arabic by a native speaker. After the words were complete, the body was placed on a prepared flat board, tipped up, whereupon the deceased's body slid into the sea."

Read elsewhere no solider actually witnessed the burial.
Think he’s still alive being interrogated?
Compare this to the public ‘leak’ of Saddam’s hanging.
wow
Interesting.
He was just relieved of his command after Benghazi.
Make me a tin foil hat but I have major doubts about whether we really got Bin Laden or a look alike ,,, or even at all

Make that two Alcoa specials, barkeep.
To celebrate I drank a “bin Lauden”. Two shots and a splash of water.
Makes for a good story.
If I were the leader of the free world, I’d have tried to capture him alive and attested to that for the world. If we weren’t able to do that, I would have provided definitive proof of his demise.
This leader gives us neither. Perhaps I haven’t thought it through. Good thing I’m not in charge.
Where’s the death certificate?
Does this make me a “deather”?
Hey Tiger, Dumb question but....are the men allowed to have cell phone/cameras or ordinary cameras allowed on board? (I really do not know!!), If so I would think somebody would have taken a pic. Hell, the Nat Enq. prob. had a million dollar check ready for the sailor that could produce a pic. If it did really happen, I have my doubts.....
Just. Wow.
“Splash!”
End of Ceremony
Who in the heck released this information? Now that I think about it, this should have been Classified until all parties involved were dead. No wonder the Admiral was removed. His life will be in danger until he dies. What a piece of crap administration we have! This is similar to releasing the names and addresses of the people who interrogated Al Qaeda detainees. Obama has no respect for the lives of the innocent unborn or born alive much less the men and women who keep his behind alive. He did not give a care for any of the Americans in Benghazi. Grrrrrrr
Interesting, but irrelevant in the long run. Islamic terrorism is going to continue as long as Islam exists.
What the heck did they black out? Why would they not black out names of Americans involved?

The Navy said Saturday it is replacing the admiral in command of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Middle East, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into undisclosed allegations of inappropriate judgment.
Rear Adm. Charles M. Gaouette is being sent back to the USS John C. Stennis’ home port at Bremerton, Wash., in what the Navy called a temporary reassignment. The Navy said he is not formally relieved of his command of the Stennis strike group but will be replaced by Rear Adm. Troy M. Shoemaker, who will assume command until the investigation is completed.
WTH?
Maybe he took some pictures for posterity or allowed someone else to do so.
