Luckily? A better outcome would have been for the perp to assume room temperature.

But I can see the point. The perp apparently did not get the gun.

But if a perp DOES steal a weapon and use it to commit a crime, who do you think will receive the blame? My bet would be on the gun owner - for not securing his/her weapons well enough.

It’s only a matter of time before 1) a weapon is stolen and used to commit a crime or 2) an attempted theft results in bodily harm to either the gun owner or the thief.

Normally, I’d agree. But in this case, having him still around to testify is actually better - the homeowner can now use his testimony to end up owning the Journal.
