Lil Kim is likely just blowing hot air, BUT...

1. They have nukes, they have missiles capable of hitting SK, Japan, Guam, and even the U.S.
2. They have stated clearly that they consider themselves at a state of war with us and will be striking us with nuclear weapons imminently.
3. They are padding the missiles.

A sane response would be to hit the missiles on the launch pad now and/or intercept the missile in its launch phase with SM-3s. Totally destroying Pyongyang’s electrical power plants would also be a suitable response to an actual launch.

Of course, massive air strikes (including everything up to tac nukes) on their artillery positions within striking range of Seoul would need to be on standby.

I think Pyongyang is the key to applying pressure, if the time comes to do so. It is what passes for the gem of NK. All of the elites live there. Everything is symbolic. Take away the power, water, food, and fuel; start dropping the symbolic structures. Cut off the roads and rail to the rest of NK. Rain leaflets on the rest of NK.

Start hour 1 with striking every aircraft, ship, and submarine they possess, along with every known ammunition bunker.

Probably. obama blinked and backed down, as everyone on the planet knew he would, and Krazy Kim is going to rub obama’s face in it. There is no reason for N. Korea to NOT cancel their tests.

I am not so sure they really do have the capability to hit the U.S. North Korea says it has a lot of capabilities that it really doesn’t have.

This is all a big game, and we’re being played for suckers. The little tyrant (the one in NK) threatens to attack, and the other tyrant (in D.C.) gives Kim lots of taxpayer money. So for the Commies, it’s a win-win.

Well blinking when concerning North Korea is probably the right thing to do, as long as it is a blink delivered with a laugh along with it. However, Obama isn't smart enough to deliver the laugh.

You're correct though, the North Koreans have nothing to gain by canceling their tests.

That isn’t based on their statements, but on their prior launches.

“Rain leaflets on the rest of NK.”

The leaflets just need to show the picture from space at night showing the lights on each side of the border. And maybe pictures of restaurants in SK and pictures of street fulls healthy looking S Koreans.

That’s certainly the game being played for now. But Kim has got to know that China is effectively on his side since they’re not going to tolerate increased U.S. military presence in the region. Recall the precedent that North Korea set when it captured the USS Pueblo and we did nothing whatsoever about it. This is growing into a very volatile and dangerous situation that could quickly spin out of control and de-stabilize the region.

The problem you overlook is “hour 1” is the extent of the war. The minute actual combat begins, 30,000 artillery pieces open fire on 1/4 of SK’s population with 10,000,000 casualties minimum.

But that could be seen as 'cowboy-ish' pre-emption on our part, and unfairly taking advantage of North Korea's weaker military capabilities.

I mean, what would the Europeans or the UN think of us if we did such a thing?

Wow, that is a bit of a stretch.

First, most of Seoul is outside of even the heavy artillery range. Second, in order to be within range, those maybe, maybe 5,000 pieces of heavy artillery must be clustered in a fairly small area just north of Seoul and further be located on the sides of the hills facing Seoul. Tac nuking or MOABing (penetrators) those hill sides would start silencing those guns very quickly.

I haven't overlooked anything. Yes, artillery would rain on Seoul's northern suburbs for a while. But only as long as we allowed it.

The Norks have nukes and have stated unequivocally their intent to use them. Hitting the sites in NK with penetrating tac nukes would be in order and would have minimal fall out on the South.
