Really hate to say it, but sometimes third-world dictators are better for the planet overall.
That said, how better off is the USA and World in general since the Arab Spring?
Let's count the ways:
Egypt is a basket case where they used to have a decent economy from tourism.
Libya, well, we know how great that is working out.
Syria, although Assad still has control, most likely will fall to the Islamist rebels or the West will have to get involved if he keeps using chemical weapons, and could possibly start a regional war.
Lebanon is nothing more that a Hizbullah stronghold.
Gaza is well, Hamas...no redeeming value. They continue to cut their own heads and those of their children in the most barbaric ritual, while teaching their children to hate everything.
Saudi Arabia is still as oppressive as ever. Now that we have so much oil, we should tell them to go pound sand...pun intended.
Then you have Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, Chechnya and a bunch of other Muslim nations killing each other in mass quantities.
Oops, how could I forget Iran that wants to kill the world?
The only 2 reasonable countries in the region are mainly Israel, and to a lessor extent Jordan. Yes, some of these conflicts have been around long before the Arab Spring, but the others have been encouraged by what I call, the "Muslim Winter".
Here's my 3 wishes from a Genie:
1. All muslims just disappear or lose their cult faith;
2. America reverts to Constitutionalism and why it was once called the Greatest Nation on the planet;
3. I have a gazillion dollars...har! Sorry you don't get any. It's mine!
He was defacto King, but he actually did reasonably well for his people and pretty much quit the international terror scene after Bush read him the riot act.
