Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst told HotAir's Ed Morrissey that his office received reports that reporters were actively encouraging and rallying pro-abortion protesters during State Sen. Wendy Davis' fillibuster last week.
"We have reports and I have my staff taking a look at the video, the internet video that we keep, we store, on the proceedings that evening and if I find as I've been told examples of the media waving and trying to inflame the crowd, incite them in the direction of a riot, I'm going to take action against them. That is wrong. That's inciting a riot. That is wrong. And we have a provision in our rules that if people do not deport themselves with decorum, they're not respectful of the legislative process, one of our rules says we can imprison them up to 48 hours. Of course that was out of the question with that many people, but it is, we take a democratic policy seriously."
Reporters in Austin are reportedly troubled by the thought that Dewhurst might use legal action, even arrests, against any reporter found inciting the crowds in the gallery of the state legislature. None seemed to express any concern over the idea that so-called "objective journalists" were potentially participating in, or even encouraging, demonstrations on behalf of abortion.

FYI..I read somewhere this morning..I’ll try to find it and post a link..that Dewhurst had backed off those statements..he’s since said that review of the video shows that the media did nothing wrong..
He fits the scumbag lawyer profile just right!
The T.E.A. Party will NEVER forget his dirty, lying campaign against Ted Cruz!
I would suspect "Dirty David" would have cozied right up w/ Juan MeCain, Linda Gramnesty and Marco McRubio.
Thankfully, we got Ted elected and what a great job he is doing for Conservatism.
During the last Cincinnati “riots” the news media took pictures from angles that made the viewer think there was a huge crowd instead of the few dozens.Just like standing ol’ Prince Charlie on a stepstool so people wouldn’t see what a short little prick he is....or ignoring obama’s questionable background.
The reporters make up and manipulate the news;they seldom report it honestly.
The news reports said the Texas legislature was holding a special session this week Governor Rick Perry called one so they could pass the abortion legislation.
Then we hear that the legislation will be worked on later this month.
Now it looks like the GOP backed down from passing the law as thousands of Pro-Abortion protestors gathered in Austin.
Was Dewhurst trying to spin the backdown??????
So much for an objective, independent and 'free' media. The 'Fourth Estate' is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the DNC.
It wasn’t only the “reporters,” but the Demoscum senators.
Texans cant be trusted in general. Especially in business. There are morals then there is business... in Texas those two to not cross paths.
Where'd that come from Walkingfeather?
The business climate in Texas is just great.
You didn't even say most or some Texans, you said Texans can't be trusted.
Pls share your personal story.
Dewhurst is a limp-wristed, spineless, RINO pansy and won’t do a thing. The creep should have taken decisive action as soon as the libtard mob began disrupting the legislative session, but instead he did nothing. This vacuous “threat” is just to cover for his own ineptitude, nothing more. Words can’t adequately express how glad I am that Ted Cruz kicked his a$$...
Is there a bur in your saddle this morning?
Kindly explain.
We Texans have NOT backed down and this bill WILL pass and be signed into law.
The Texas Congress only meets once every two years. Any legislation that needs to get down, which was not handled during the regular session, can be called into a special session by the Governor. The difference is that Congress can only cover the specific topics the Governor puts on their agenda - period. Each special session is typically 30 days.
Last special session, Governor Perry didn’t add the abortion topic until the session was over 50% complete. So, with the other topics which needed to be handled, they ran out of time to get this bill done.
Since this is the MAIN topic for this session, I have no doubt that this abortion bill will be passed, EASILY.
I guess we need to play Cowboys and Indians again?
The legislation should pass since it would regulate abortion clinics and here in PA we passed regulatory legislation easily since Gosnell was based here.
But the 20 week issue, that is making abortions after 20 weeks illegal looks to me like a fallback from old positions for the Republicans and an attempt to create an emotional wedge issue for the 2014 elections to keep people supporting the Republican Party.
Ronald Reagan opposed all abortions with the rape, incest and life of the mother exceptions and signed legislation in California that was considered liberal when it passed in 1967.
A 20 week limit will lead to a federal court fight just like the immigration legislation that passed in Arizona a few years ago and was signed by Governor Jan Brewer.
Brewer now support amnesty anyway after getting re-elected on the back of the emotional immigration legislation.
Is the GOP-E exploiting the abortion issue now to create emotional support for their next elections.
Passing 20 week limit legislation is a retreat from Ronald Reagan’s abortion position.
I have a local GOP legislator who wants abortion legal during the first 12 weeks and he was always labeled Pro-Abortion for that in voter guides.
Guys like him will now get the Pro-Life label attached to them if they vote for such a bill.
I smell the Karl Rove emotional wedge issue to get support riled up for liberal GOP members with these 20 week abortion limit bills.
This makes after 20 weeks illegal, with ALL of the typical exceptions including rape, incest, harm to mother or fetal abnormality. Hell, this is NOT an unprecedented, extreme position; this is the law in twelve other states - ALREADY.
Plain and simple, the Dems want to be able to kill that baby right up until the last toe-nail passes the vaginal entry - PERIOD! ANY restriction from being able to kill that baby is considered a “War on Women!” and the media plays it up and sells it to the public as if this is the truth. It is simply BS!
If anything, this bill is more FOR the health of women than ANY abortion title implies. It forces Doctors to be able to admit patients to a hospital, it makes a hospital be available within a certain distance (in case of emergency), it makes abortion clinics meet medical-procedure-level standards (because abortion IS a medical procedure) oh, and it means a woman must decide to kill her baby within FIVE months of getting pregnant - OH, THE EFFING HORROR!
Even the Dems have stated that less than 2% of ALL abortions done in Texas are done AFTER 20 weeks, so then WHY would you not want to limit this procedure? These people are NOT “pro-choice” they are all about KILLING, KILLING, KILLING babies!
