NAACP introduces 'Trayvon's Law'
Digital Journal ^ | Aug 2, 2013 | Larry Weiss

Posted on 08/02/2013 8:26:27 AM PDT by kevcol

The 2012 killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin has led to various rallies, boycotts, and even songs. Now, the NAACP is leading the way in an effort to force legal changes across the United States in an attempt to prevent another similar situation.

The NAACP created "Trayvon's Law," a series of legislative policies that aims to "end racial profiling, repeal stand your ground laws, form effective civil complaint review boards to provide oversight of police misconduct, improve training for community watch groups, mandate law enforcement to collect data on homicide cases involving non-whites, and address the “school to prison pipeline, NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous explained in a statement according to AllHipHop. "What happened to Trayvon Martin must never happen again," Jealous said according to Jet Mag. "Trayvon's Law will serve as the foundation for community advocates as they work to end laws and practices that contributed to his death and to create new policies that will prevent further tragedies."

The NAACP will push "Trayvon's Law" at the local, state, and federal levels. The organization's Florida State Conference will be working to immediately enact the law in Florida, AllHipHop reports. The organization is also urging states across the US to adopt the law.

They left out, students found to have evidence of committing a crime on school property must be reported to the police.

I believe the NAACP wants to make it law that Blacks can beat Whitey to death if they feel dissed in any way and it should be the Black guy’s call.

I am not using a bit of hyperbole. That is what they really think the law should be.

Maybe we should pass a law against bashing someone’s head into concrete sidewalks.

"... and address the “school to prison pipeline..." How about the welfare-fatherless- 'home' to prison pipeline?

Ugh! Really? So they want to remove my right to stand my ground against an attacker but also mandate tracking of violent non-white offenders, a tacit admission of the root cause, AND address the “school to prison” pipeline, another root cause?

What the Hell is wrong with black liberals?

Has anyone noticed that none of Trayvon’s teachers have stepped forward to talk about what a great kid he was? I mean, if they have, I haven’t heard it. I was googling around just now and didn’t find anything. That’s interesting, usually when a young person dies, there’s always a teacher or two who issues a statement about how bright and promising they were and all that. All we’re hearing is that he might have assaulted one of them, and the whole Miami-Dade district has clammed up.

Building that mountain out of a molehill.

Never let a crisis go to waste I suppose. Although, IMHO, it’s a real stretch to consider this a crisis.

I can not understand why the NAACP is fighting "Stand Your Ground " laws in the Trayvon™ Martin case
when "Stand Your Ground" wasn't even a legal issue raised during the trial
much to the Dept. of "JUST-US" and NAACP chagrin .

Is this another case of " race baiter " OVER REACH ?

They just want to make it easier for their teenage thugs to play the knockout game without consequences.

That’s what this little thug tried to do and he got killed for his efforts.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey, I’m on board with this. For sure. “End laws and practices that contributed to his death and to create new policies that will prevent further tragedies.”?
Sure. Effectively immediatley we should outlaw thuggery, dope smoking, loitering with intent, burglary, atempted murder, truancy, being a product of parental neglect and other crimes and misdemeanors Trayvon was guilty of.
