The Egyptian government is set to declare on Wednesday that foreign mediation efforts to end the political crisis in the country have failed, Reuters reported Tuesday night, citing the Al-Ahram newspaper. …

It would also declare that Muslim Brotherhood protests against the army’s overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi were non-peaceful—a signal that the government intends to end them by force.

The report appeared hours after two senior U.S. senators on a mediation mission said they considered Morsi’s removal to have been a military coup—causing an uproar in the Egyptian media and drawing a strong riposte from the acting president.

The Republican senators—Lindsey Graham and John McCain—also called on the military to release political prisoners and start a national dialogue to return Egypt to democratic rule, Reuters reported. …

Egypt knows 0bama’s a wimp. Let’s hope Egypt stays on course and doesn’t give in to the MB (0bama’s people).

There are more terrorist Islamists there than just the MB. General Sisi is one. (There was a reason why Morsi appointed him.)

I believe General Sisi had generally good relations with the Israel Defense Forces.

Right, their comments would do more harm than good no matter what they said. There is just no reason for them to even go there.

OF COURSE they failed. Obama is asking Egypt to take steps that are contrary to her interests (and also against US interests but Kerry and Obama have not figured that one out yet).

Egypt is trying to nullify radical Islam in their country and in the Sinai. The US is actually working against her global interests by threatening the Egyptians with a trade cutoff. America's allies, especially Israel are scratching their heads in bewilderment.

Other countries in the region are preparing for a post-American world, the direction Obama is taking all of us and that means that the hands of the clock are one minute closer to midnight!

You are right on. The IDF and Egypt have common interests in the region, namely the Sinai terror bases, smuggling and tunnels. The Egyptian army UNDERSTANDS Israel’s concerns and vice-versa. Obumbling Obama & Co. just either do not get it or have an Islamist agenda.

Taqiyyah. It’s already gained him a military presence in the Sinai. Egyptian tanks are now stationed on Israeli borders for the first time since the Six Day War.

Before anyone runs with THAT (Sisi = terrorist) as fact instead of speculation, I suggest they spend some time reading the comments after the Foreign Affairs article.

What is fact is that we are managing to alienate a country who could be a valuable, if imperfect, ally, much like Turkey was for many years.

That was done as soon as Mubarak was deposed.

And that Foreign Affairs article was written by a professor at the US Naval Postgraduate College, who did review Sisi’s US Army War College thesis. It’s not speculation.
