GOP rep expects October immigration reform vote
MSNBC ^ | 9/10/13 | Benjy Sarlin

Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte, chair of the House Judiciary Committee overseeing immigration, said he expected Congress to pursue reform legislation despite a tight schedule featuring debates over Syria, health care, and the debt limit.

Those and other issues “should not deter us from getting to [immigration] as soon as possible,” Goodlatte said in an appearance on WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi Show on Tuesday.

Goodlatte said he expected votes soon, perhaps in October, on a series of smaller House bills on border security, internal enforcement, guest workers, and high-tech visas.

“Those bills are ready to go to the floor of the House and it’s my hope they come to the floor of the House as soon as possible,” he said.

This is the biggie that the GOPeDems are trying to sneak by with all the diversions.

All it takes is one of those apparently harmless little ‘border security’ or ‘dreamer’ bills to get into reconciliation and make the Senate amnesty monstrosity the law of the land.

Amnesty is coming up as soon as the gop figures it can successfully ram it down our throats. If not into other parts of our anatomy.

I figure if the House gives amnesty, most of them will be gone in 2014. Americans will just give up.

I'm glad Putin stopped Obama’s Syria war distraction.

Now we have to call Congress and tell them no immigration related bill must come from the House as it will be merged with the Senate amnesty bill.

I fully support immigration reform. Unfortunately, my kind of immigration reform includes fences, deportations, eliminating the Ted Kennedy anchor baby laws and everything else that the GOP and their Demonrat allies love.

They don't even have a budget! Only a few Appropriations bills have even been brought up for a vote. The debt ceiling is about to expire. The Federal Government is out of money.

The Middle East is a powder keg of crisis.

The military has been cut to the bone, and is in a crisis.

Congress has been on vacation for 5 straight weeks, and THIS is what they set as a priority? Giving amnesty to Illegal lawbreakers, and putting us Trillions more into debt to pay for their giveaway programs?

Keep the pressure on. WE are the ONLY reason Obama’s Syria stunt would have/will? fail to pass the House and maybe the Senate. TEA party gone? Dream on liberals!

I swear I think Freepers are the ONLY ones in America who notice the GOP meme ... they tell us what they are going to do to stop ODimwit. They scream, yell, stomp their feet ... then they give in and tell us they got “99% of what they wanted”. The GOP is killing us or, at a minimum, using us as human shields.

Some of these bills will end up as veto bait.

Obama and Reid will veto the enforcement bill based on his belief that all Hispanics were in Arizona territory before the whites arrived.

Goodlatte then has to explain to the USCIS that so many Dreamers with misdemeanors will be deported that the ones that do qualify will not overwhelm USCIS.

Also the Syria vote was a good test. All these members of congress are going to go silent on the 9 to 1 ratio of opposition to passing the immigration bills.

They wont pass a tech visa bill alone because Hatch wants it.

The worst bill that may come up is the Poe Raul bill that legalizes illegals with a guest worker scheme. Probably will include the ones that don’t work. The unions and the patriots like Steve King may bring enough votes to stop the cheap labor bill. Some of the Democrats are too stupid to realise that passing these bills will help them with amnesty goals.

Even if they write all that you say in a new bill they will merge that with the Senate Amnesty bill in conference. so best for now no immigration bill of any kind from the House at all is our only option.

what you say is what they sell conwervatives and we say yes to “reform” and then bait and swtich.

when the congress says reform we end up with something like the obamacare bill which is pure big governemnt/socialism = hell

Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.

Michelle Bachman explained it. ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse.NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call congress.

Tell them to stop all Amnesty or immigration bills.they are all trojan horse bills. some will promise border security that will never be enforced anyway.

Bachmann explained it . The House will write a border security bill only . then in conference the senate will add the virus and then bring it back to the house. then the conservatives won’t vote for it but democrats will all vote for it so then they only need 10% of republicans to pass Amnesty and the virus that will destroy America. so any bill at all will be added the virus . so best thing is for Boner to not let any immigration bill at all come out of the House. that is the only hope . call boner and the members of the House.

Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.

call congress . no bill at all from the House

and of course boner must not bring the Senate bill for the House to vote on. no senate bill, no border security bill from the House .nothing

Rand Paul’s immigration speech

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
