Two Colorado Democrats who provided crucial support for a slate of tough new gun-control laws were voted out of office on Tuesday in a recall vote widely seen as a test of popular support for gun restrictions after mass shootings in a Colorado movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school.

Ya. No to no big gulps and now Colorado.
BTW, I am a native. So is my wife.
“Gun friendly California = Gun Friendly Colorado.”
Not so fast! Colorado has shown all of the other RAT-infested states that there is “RAT poison” available in the recall. California recalled RAT Gray Davis because he was way. way out of line. Unfortunately, we allowed Arnold the Awful to win the governorship and all he did for two terms was father a child with his maid. We need to start telling our legislators who favor the current batch of unconstitutional gun measures that are pending, that they are next. Particularly Darrell Steinberg, our Senate Majority Leader. He’s at least as big a POS as was Morse.
We could only hope that they were that stupid.
Great job, Colorado!
Or maybe they like freedom, too. It's an easy sell once you get out of the mindset of telling people what they can and can't have.
Why call them progressives? They are fascists who think they know best. True freedom is not having these @#$÷!”% telling Is what we can and cannot do “for our own good. “ eff themm.
BTTT!!!
The recall was designed to set up the 2014 election. By forcing out the two dems, the senate is now controlled by the dems by only one vote. There are about 4 or 5 vulnerable Senators and about 10 to 12 representatives who are now vulnerable. Even Hickenlooper is polling down at the 45% approval level.
So going into 2014, guns and the votes of politicians with regards to gun control are VERY MUCH going to be at the forefront of the campaign. The GOP is now seeing that the Dems are vulnerable. In fact, it is quite possible for the GOP (if they run conservatives) to take control of the entire state. Senate, Gov and House. Especially since there wont be any Obama coat tails this time.
Democrats have 18 seats, Republicans have 17 seats.
I have a lot more hope for Colorado. Except for Denver and Boulder, this is still a conservative state. Even the Democrats here tend to be Reagan Democrats. It's just that conservatives have sat it out the past few years. You know how live-and-let-live it is out here. A lot of conservatives can't be bothered by politics, and a lot of them were fooled by Hickenlooper's smiling "moderate" face. I think they're waking up now. I expect a big shift in November 2014. Don't turn your pessimism into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Sic Semper Tyrannis!!!
I second that.
“Legalizing pot and even raising a few taxes might be fine and dandy, but take away the guns and the state â and the electorate â start seeing red...”
The pot issue is a freedom and state’s rights issue. A majority of Coloradans voted for it, proving the issue crossed party lines. The gun issue is the same, it’s about freedom.
The message from these two issues is this:
Colorado still loves freedom and the feds (and Bloomberg) can kiss our collective asses.
Also, why did Colo Spgs vote in a Liberal? I thought that Colo Spgs was conservative. I used to live there. That was many years ago, though.
Balance was 20-15 Dems on top.
Now 18-17 Dems.
So what happens now? I assume the two seats are vacant. If so, how are the seats filled and what prevents these two gungrabbing libs from recapturing the seats during the next election?
Are there enough of us non-prog, sane voters to throw the bums out?
It’s getting worse every year! I live in a completely DemoRAT surrounded area — it’s occupied territory!! And now there is a super-majority in Sacramento.
It’s good to be hopeful — but from looking around here in California, I don’t have much hope. Plus, I’m going broke.
The two seats will be transferred to two Republican reps.

It was a classic example of a third party splitting the vote. Votes went to the Libertarian that likely would have otherwise gone to the Republican. So, Morse, the Democrat, ended up winning by a very narrow margin instead.
