In a stealthy seaside assault in Somalia, U.S. special forces on Saturday struck out against Islamic extremists who have carried out terrorist attacks in East Africa, before eventually aborting the mission to capture a leading terrorist suspect linked to last month's Nairobi shopping mall attack after a fierce firefight.
A U.S. Navy SEAL team swam ashore near a town in southern Somalia before militants of the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group al-Shabab rose for dawn prayers. The raid on a house in the town of Barawe targeted a specific al-Qaeda suspect related to the mall attack, but the operation did not get its target, one current and one former U.S. military official told AP.
Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the raid publicly.

Maybe they were alerted Obama was about to out them on national TV with a “breaking news event” to stymie the bad press he is beginning to get on the shut down??
Tactical Nukes. Yeah!
The leader is not in Somalia.
what the sh**. why is this in the news
This just in:
June 1, 1944...According to unnamed sources close to Gen Dwight D. Eisenhouser the allied invasion will be sometime this week at the Normandy beaches.
So the initial reports were one AQ captured and another target shot and they were not able to retrieve body. Which is it?
They did however nab the guy involved in the bombings of U.S. embassies 15 years ago.
What the heck is going on here!!!!!!
Leni
Maybe they realized they were being sent on another false flag op, and didn’t want to be thrown under the bus like the BS Bin Laden raid.
Honestly, why clandestine missions of this sort are even undertaken by these special forces is beyond me. I know of only two well-known examples of intelligence information being leaked by some very senior government officials, the murder of navy seals shot down by a missile and the recent leak tipping off Al Qaeda about US Govt surveillance. But its more than enough to be concerned about any American servicemen being put in harm’s way by treasonous, betrayering sons-of-bastards working out of the White Hut.

obama
When the leader of AQ is in the WH, it’s good tactics to send the hunters to the other side of the globe.
Makes for peaceful golfing.
It would have been better if they had just come in,
Killed them all and then exfiltrated without a trace
and no mention made in the press.
Let Al Kaabab figure that out.
The ineptness of this administration is beyond belief.
i still wonder if the “bin ladin raid” was really an attempt to secure Pakistan’s nukes, but we lost the classified copter so we had to make some other excuse up.
call me mr. tin foil hat, but I don’t trust anything this government tell us.
it is about distraction. This lousy administration/regime uses our men as pawns in their sick shell game.

Idiots can’t keep their mouths shut.
