There may be more to this than meets the eye. That is, what if it *wasn’t* about race? What if the black soldiers knew him for some other reason? The two that come to mind are drugs, or if he was a homosexual.

Right now, I doubt there is any command in the Army that will say a homosexual soldier was murdered because he was a homosexual. For a command to assert this would be to invite tremendous mass punishment on everyone in that command.

So everyone involved, even the murderer, will be inclined to say it is for *any* other reason than homosexuality. For example, offer the murderer a deal: if he insists that it was because the victim was a homosexual, he will get life; but if he says it was because he was stealing his wallet, he will get three years.

In this case, it gets even thicker, because they don’t want to call it a hate crime either. Granted, a hate crime is actually better than killing him because he was a homosexual, but it is still embarrassing to the command; so I think they will find yet another reason.

Drugs is convenient, because even if they don’t find any drugs at autopsy, they can say that he was skipping out on a drug debt. If even that is too raw, they can get the murderer to say that it was mistaken identity, that he looked like somebody who had skipped out on a drug debt.

Water finds its own level. The purpose of the military justice system is not justice, but to maintain good order and discipline in the military.

The attackers yelled at the entire group and not just at this guy. One of the attackers supposedly “bumped into” the victim as they were leaving, and then the kid fell over as the car sped away. The victim probably happened to be in a vulnerable position - perhaps at the end of the group of his buddies - and may not have been very aggressive. Also, he’s extremely “white” looking.

Sorry, you may be defending their killing him because you think he was gay, but that’s not okay, even if you have proof that he was a drug-using homosexual (which I doubt).

I have respected your posts in the past and I can’t believe you’re doing the Freeper blame-the-victim thing here.
