-— I have never once eaten at our 5 guys place. I have never seen it very busy there -—
The burger prices are comparable to McDonalds. The problem for me is convenience. I need drive-thru speed.
I’ll never understand the 5 Guys and other trendy burger joint phenomena...how hard is it to get a pound of freakin’ ground beef and a couple potatoes and cook ‘em yourself?
Agree Joe. I love a rare burger and 5 Guys won’t do it. I can’t swallow well done meat, so if I want a burger done right, I make it at home....
It’s a radical lefty outfit anyway.
If you like foreign films and classics, check out Hulu. They have something like 900 Criterion titles available.
“Our neighborhood Blockbuster is still open. However, the 5 Guys hamburger joint across the street was shuttered this past week. Never saw that coming”
Businesses close unsuccessful branches (locations) fast these days.
They start on a fairly short term lease (2-5 yrs. w/ options), and at lease end, if they still aren’t making profit, they bug out.
Five Guys is OK and will go sometimes. There is one called Smashburger that I like a lot better. I recommend the mushroom and swiss burger.
I rented World War Z on Red Box for $1.25. Blockbuster wanted $3.99. All together now:
Duh! Duh! Duh!
KFC closed in our town this past month.”
A KFC is right across the street from our local CFA. Next door to the CFA is a Sonic. We do CFA at least twice a week - and more often when peach shakes are in season. Last two times we’ve been at CFA there have been huge lines - no cars in the KFC lot and only two or three parked at Sonic. Often wonder how much longer KFC and Sonic will remain open.
This sounds like Obama's lost bank teller jobs.
I think we need legislation to outlaw DVD dispensers.
Something happened to KFC, their chicken doesn’t taste quite right anymore. It’s been a very long time since I’ve set foot in one, and that’s why. Between CFA, Popeye’s and Bojangles, there really isn’t a reason to patronize them, imho. They need a revamp to the menu, even the supposedly “secret” recipe for fried chicken. It’s not working, not here at least.
My friend ordered One hamburger, fry and tea- 14.00 walk out.
Comparable to McDonalds REALLY?
5 Guys
1x Hamburger $5.89
1x Large Drink $2.59
1x Large Fries $4.89
SUB TOTAL
$13.37
TAX
$1.10
TOTAL
$14.47
We don’t have Bojangles in our part of Texas that I’m aware of. When I moved back to Kansas from Louisiana years ago I really missed Blue Bell Ice Cream and Popeye’s chicken. Tried Popeye’s chicken not long ago - IMO it’s horrible. Don’t know if my memory is bad or if it’s the recipe. We tried KFC on Sunday when CFA was closed - really greasy and just plain bad. So now it’s CFA or nothing.
A regular-sized burger is around $4. More meat than any McDonalds’s burger. A large fry is enough for four people. And a large soda at $2.50 is comparable to $1.80 at most fast-food places.
Those prices are comparable to McDonald’s regular meals, but not the value menu.
I guess the burger price has gone up a lot since the last time I was there.
