Yes, Virginia, the GOP Establishment did stick a shiv in Ken Cuccinelli
American Thinker ^ | 11/7/2013 | Matthew Vadum

Reagan conservative Ken Cuccinelli lost his bid for the Virginia governorship because the patrician, turf-protecting Republican Party establishment in his state wanted him to lose.

It's really that simple.

Cuccinelli campaign strategist Chris La Civita suggested on election night Tuesday that the federal government's partial shutdown last month may have hurt his candidate in parts of Virginia where many federal employees and contractors live.

He also suggested that Cuccinelli could have won if he had received more money from national GOP sources, which he said dried up as of Oct. 1.

"There are a lot of questions people are going to be asking and that is, was leaving Cuccinelli alone in the first week of October, a smart move?" La Civita said.  "We were on our own. Just look at the volume [of ads]."

Cuccinelli lost by a mere 2.5 percentage points in a state that until somewhat recently had been solidly Republican.  Even with Cuccinelli's various tactical mistakes (and there were many), it is still very difficult to believe that the GOP machine couldn't have gotten another fifty-odd thousand voters to the polls to support him if it really wanted to.

Blame the third party candidate, and recognize the democrats for funding him. Remember Ross Perot.

Robert Sarvis is the reason for McAuliffe’s victory — and blaming anyone else is B.S.

Until straw candidates recruited by and paid for by the Demagogic Party and its allies start to pay a price for their crimes, this will continue.

I mean that in the nicest possible way, of course.

KEN FOR US SENATE---start the ball rolling.

"Obamacare" turned the VA race from a landslide into a nail-biter. McAwful and Obama's election night nail-biting was not pretty. Face it, no Democrat who voted for Obamacare is safe. We need to be on the attack as soon as possible. Three crucial exhibits:

EXHIBIT ONE----THEY CAN RUN BUT THEY CANT HIDE---No democrat who voted for Obamacare is safe in 2014. The O/Care debacle is looking more and more like the 1992 House check-kiting scandal. Even w/ a strenuous political cover-up, 11 of the 22 kiters--even in safe seats--were tossed out by angry constituents (cackle).

===================================================

EXHIBIT TWO: Chris Frates, CNN's investigative correspondent, reported: "Three years ago, Senate Democrats sucked-up and voted unanimously to support the self-same ObamaCare rule that is largely responsible for some of the health insurance cancellation letters now going out to irate policyholders"....every Democrat voted against Senator Republican Mike Enzi's (R-Wyo) bill to protect policyholders from the ruinous effects of Obamacare that we are seeing now.

ACTION NOW........get a summary of Republican Enzi's pro-policyholder amendment, with a list of EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT who voted against protecting policyholders. Use the blockbuster info in upcoming elections....in letters to the editor, ads, fliers, bumper stickers, lawn signs, etc..........

================================================

EXHIBIT THREE---Panic room: Frustrated Senate Dems up for reelection next year meet with Obama in unscheduled meeting----discussion said to be "spicy."

The weeping and gnashing of Dem teeth is at crisis stage. Mary Landrieu (Dem-La) is backtracking like crazy---but they got her on tape parroting Obama's ruinous, "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

Blame Mitt Romney, Karl Rove and the other
thieves of conservatives’ money.

They are corrupt backstabbers for Soros and Obama.

I now have decided there is no distinction between the Republican party and the Democrat party.

Who are the pro Constitutional conservatives. I have failed to make a list and know there must be more out there other than Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio, and Tom McClintock.

Help me make a list and don’t include any amnesty proponents.

The "third party" excuse is so worn out. That line of thinking is also what gives us weak-@ss candidates like Dole, McCain and even Romney. The perception by the powers that be is that only one Pubbie and one Dimocrat should run and those will be your only choices. Face it, the parties want it this way.

My vote goes to a solid candidate. Put forth a solid candidate and that's who get my vote, not just because they have an (R) at the end of their name.

By all accounts, Cuccinelli ran a good race, was a good candidate, but is another example of being in a party that will throw you off the bus if you don't follow their lead. We need to starve that beast and seriously look at a third party. Build a structure from local and state elections and work the way up.

Why do I think that 2014 is NOT going to go well for the ‘Pubbies?
They are throwing their conservative base under the bus for votes that are going to Democrats no matter what the ‘Pubbies do to try to buy their votes.

They are throwing their conservative base under the bus…

"After all, where else are they going to go?"

Just wait, come September or October, you'll start hearing the meme: "if you don't vote for the GOP, no matter how liberal, you are effectively voting for the Dem"

The GOP-e is engaged in active warfare against a key constituency of the Republican base; and the losses by Dole, McCain, and Romney have taught them nothing. In the years to come, they will still be flummoxed by their losses (and will continue to place the blame on conservatives).

2.5k ballots fit nicely in a box in a trunk.

I’m sure they had 10k ballots, just in case.

I trust Rubio as far as I can throw a man-hole cover.

Your observation is undeniable. So is the dramatic change in the civic makeup of the nation. There seem to be few taboos left in a nation that has lost it’s rudder.

Agreed. I believe that we're seeing the unfolding of a long term plan in which the extreme left has taken over the machinery of both parties. The RATs have purged their "moderates" and blue dogs and the Stupids have marginalized their conservative elements.

I live here and the 6 month long virtually unanswered sleazy onslaught engineered by McA$$h0le against Cuccinelli. was hard to take. There was zero GOP support.

Remember the Alamo Cuccinelli.
