n the midst of a petition drive to collect signatures calling for her recall, Colorado state Senator Evie Hudak announced her resignation today. Hudak became the target of a recall threat after her support in passing Colorados gun control

Is there anyway to complete the recall regardless of resignation? They have the signatures and should take them to court.

"It looks like the dems want the Hickenlooper to appoint a dem so We the People don't elect a Republican." Maybe he'll piss off enough people to make his own recall the next effort in the state.

I would rather get the chance to elect a Republican but the witch is politically dead!

Usually when a politician resigns during trouble the back story is that someone with influence has set them up with a higher paying job with even more influence or opportunity for corruption.

I do not know. I just got the news when a friend gave me a heads up. This was the first article I found. My friend heard it on KVDR fox 31 Denver.

They should call her bluff and instantly start a recall on the new appointee.

I read this earlier.
Time to go after the rest of ‘em.
I emailed RMGO and suggested they go after Jesse Ulibarri next.

The Dems know and use every dirty trick in the book. Did anyone really expect this **** to go out with honor?

I like folks who dream the really satisfying kind of dream! I will be happy with the wicked witch of Westminster being gone.
Unfortunately the Senate stays under democrats for next year.

Not a recall, but he is trouble next fall. He thought he could pass gun control early in the term and then have people forget, but the recalls have kept the issue alive.
If we can avoid nominating Tom Tancredo we may have a chance. I agree with Tancredo’s immigration views, but he will scare enough Denver surburbanites to lose.

With the resignation, the rat party rather than the Governor, gets to fill the vacancy. Word was that Hudak wouldn't resign unless she could swing a deal to be the one to pick her replacement. How that went over with the central committee would be interesting to know.
As others have said, Governor chickenchoker will probably find Hudak a cushy do-nothing job as a payoff.

Seems they get to double dip - shouldn’t the legislation be recalled then if she cannot as the recall was obviously based on her not sticking to campaign promises. Really it would be a recall of the party or the position based on the fact that a new appointee would not reverse the vote!
The question is rhetorical really as that would be just and right and that has nothing to do with what is going on there!

I’m delighted to see this most recent development; it doesn’t, however, undo the damage that’s already been done.
