WHAT percent of American men are gay? This question is notoriously difficult to answer. Historical estimates range from about 2 percent to 10 percent.
But somewhere in the exabytes of data that human beings create every day are answers to even the most challenging questions.
Using surveys, social networks, pornographic searches and dating sites, I recently studied evidence on the number of gay men. The data used in this analysis is available in highly aggregated form only and can be downloaded from publicly accessible sites. While none of these data sources are ideal, they combine to tell a consistent story.
At least 5 percent of American men, I estimate, are predominantly attracted to men, and millions of gay men still live, to some degree, in the closet. Gay men are half as likely as straight men to acknowledge their sexuality on social networks. More than one quarter of gay men hide their sexuality from anonymous surveys. The evidence also suggests that a large number of gay men are married to women....

The honest number is about 1.7% to 2.1% of men, based on the best studies I have reviewed. The methodology of this particular study is absurd.

That prof was probably a rumperroom player himself. No freakin’ man ever catches a second glance from me. I’d rather spend a day in a modern “art” museum than 10 unnecessary minutes in a men’s locker room. Not in this lifetime. *gag*
I’d be feeling a little sweet on her and bring home flowers. She’d spend days accusing me of doing it to assuage my guilt for having an affair (when? I had no time not with her that I wasn’t at or to and from work).
After multiple tries I stopped getting her flowers.
Several months later she wailed that I never brought her flowers anymore!

I read this somewhere also -- only a very small percentage are exclusively homosexual. Most of the self-professed gays have experienced some kind of attraction to the opposite sex.
Which leads to the issue of bisexuality, as you mentioned, & basically religious/societal conditioning toward heterosexuality. If you believe heterosexuality is the norm, you will shy away from deviance.

5% is part of the big deception to make us think they are a lot more in number, a lot more important, and a lot more influential than they really are.
I don’t doubt that as homosexuality is now openly supported and promoted in most realms, that it is on the increase.
But I doubt that it’s at 5% yet.......only God really knows.........
Just because someone gives an answer doesn’t mean it is correct.
