Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo were on a collision course Monday over taxes with de Blasio declaring that he wont abandon his plan to tax the rich even if the state funds the universal pre-kindergarten classes that hes been pushing.
We are not going to water down our goal, de Blasio proclaimed, reiterating his intention to ask Albany to hike city income taxes on those earning $500,000 or more no matter what happens on the pre-K front.

“So.. where will the rich exit to?”
I’m thinking a guy can make a bundle investing in real estate that is right outside the city limits.
London will become the World Finance Headquarters again.
RE: London will become the World Finance Headquarters again.
London survived a Marxist mayor for 8 years — Ken Livingstone.
A vocal opponent of the Conservative Party government of Margaret Thatcher, Livingstone (an atheist) was heavily criticised in the mainstream media for supporting controversial issues like republicanism, Israel ( he was an anti-semite), LGBT rights and a United Ireland, being given the moniker of “Red Ken” for his socialist beliefs.
Pretty much what Eric Bolling said on “The Five”. In the age of the internet “the floor” can be anywhere.
I love that, did you write it?
How soon before times square returns to peep shows and drug pushers? Forgive me but I hope NY City goes right down the poop chute. The citizens deserve it for voting in a Stalin wannabe.
No, the late Alvin Lee did of the band Ten Years After circa 1971..........

I wonder how long it will be until NYC looks like Detroit? If I were in NY and were rich or owned a business there I would be looking south for a new home.
Universal Pre-K is just to GET THE KIDS AWAY FROM PARENTS and INDOCTRINATE them to Liberalism.....PERIOD.
Please tax the rich more. Export your money makers and businesses to other states. Don’t let California beat you New York.
Well, Cuomo is one of the more rational among the leftists. He is actually proposing lowering state taxes and says that the municipalities, if they wish to keep jobs, should lower taxes and fees. He has proposed special breaks (such as, no taxes at all on certain things) for businesses that locate upstate.
He says that if pre-K is desired by the legislature, it can be paid for other ways and that there is no need for a punitive tax on the “rich,” which will just drive away jobs.
De Blasio is determined to get this tax, though. I think he’s overestimating the attractiveness of NYC, unfortunately. Businesses don’t need to be there anymore, and they’re not going to stay if he makes things miserable for their owners, execs or even skilled workers (it doesn’t take much to be considered “rich” by De Blasio).
I agree that it’s partly about punishing the rich, rising from an irrational hatred and envy. The other motivation is that DeBlasio, like Castro, Chavez, Obama and the other despots of the world, is a dictator, and all dictators have one thing in common, their primary defining characteristic: In their heart, they are purely and simply thieves. And DeBlasio will soon use his position to become at least as rich as some of those he claims to despise. Much of that redistributed income will find its way into his secret accounts. And that, more than anything else, is what his policy is all about.
I think it's also about government subsidizing child care for 'his people.'
That would be dual income well-to-dos who can't qualify for gummint aid.
NYC taxes are paid upon dollars earned in NYC. It's not necessary for someone to live in NYC to be subject to tax.
Rush has an ongoing battle with NYC over taxes. They would love to tax him on earnings although he no longer lives there and the show is not based there. They want to tax him even on the time he would spend broadcasting from there if he were visiting there.
When companies decide to move across the river, you'll see the effect.
I think it's primarily that. Candidate Obama was asked during the 2008 campaign if he would raise capital gains rates when that would raise less money.
He said he would, that it was about fairness. It's hatred and envy.
NYC is an incredible place to live if you’re rich. All the arts, the events and beautiful women come here. It’s also a global hub with 3 airports.
If you’re rich, you don’t experience any of the negatives of living here.
I’m sure DeIdiot is working on fixing that though. ..
Are you saying that you would have to be able to never leave your penthouse?
The sooner movers and shakers realize that, the better for the national wealth and the worse for de Blasio and the rest of the Progressives.
Your penthouse would be quiet, with beautiful views and a garden. Manhattan is much quieter than you think 20+ stories up. Some penthouses also have pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, etc.
When you drive out, you’re chauffeured door-to-door in a car as comfortable as your living room. Or in a limo if going out with friends. Most of the rich live in “boutique” neighborhoods and can walk around just fine too.
If you want to meet women, you simply go to a club and buy a VIP table. Beautiful women will literally line up to meet you and take turns sitting on your lap. Not to mention all the wealthy private parties going on with beautiful women from all over the world.
If you have a hankering for nature, beaches, etc you can take a quick helicopter ride to one of many hangouts.
I’m not into flashy wealth and gold-digging women but know plenty of people who live this way.
