$200 million spent ... not one person enrolled ... but that doesn't matter because they're wasting federal money instead of state funds!

“It doesn’t make sense to throw good money after bad and just waste that money on something that is ultimately, maybe doomed to fail.”

You mean like this failing experiement called a,’Representative Republic?’ ;)

$200 mil for an inoperative website. For that much money I’ll tattoo the ones and zeros to my arm and travel door-to-door. Low bandwidth is better than no bandwidth.

Interesting how these articles systematically avoid mention of the contractor paid to do the work, Larry Ellison’s Oracle.

This state blew 200 million, the fed gov, all total? 800 million? Other states another total 2-500 million?

And this was the affordable way to insure about 30 million uninsured? Instead about that number have lost their polices?

And our GOPe have proven to be willing conspirators by not stopping this crap?

Has our government sunk so low to waste so much money to cause so much harm, why?

And our GOPe traitors want to legalize the illegals?

Is this a bad dream? Was I transported to some alternate universe?

Just think...for that much, they could have trained 200 new MD’s for Oregon, who they could employ for lower than average MD costs as payment for the education like the BIA does for Indian healthcare; typically for 2 to 5 years depending on the loan amount.

But that would involve thinking.

I remember this story too.

former State Legislator Jane Cease. Cease had served 13 years in the State Legislature when she was appointed to run the State’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). During her tenure, Cease approved spending more than $70 million in cost overruns on a new computer system for the Agency. The system never worked, and the cost ballooned from an original $50 million price tag to $123 million, and was eventually scrapped – a total loss for taxpayers. Despite this epic failure, Cease requested and was given another high-paying government job. Under Oregon law, Ms. Cease’s 13 years in the Legislature will be credited as though she were paid at her highest three-year government salary during that time.

Oregon requires a balanced budget every 2 years.
I suspect they will try and push this off till after 2014 and then the 200M bill will show up.

Oregon simply has to offer higher salaries, retirement and benefits, to attract quality individuals to make the websites work properly. They should raise taxes to do this as healthcare is a right for all people, and the government should supply it free.

Like pot.

$200mm and no enrollments. Wow, who did their software? Who did they know?

The reward/results ratio here is even more ridiculous than for CGI, who until recently was responsible for healthcare.gov.
