Not all that long ago, the establishment wing of the Republican Party had the power to demand obedience from its Christian Right flank, but thanks to Internet fundraising and changes to campaign finance laws, the 2014 elections could be a case of the tail wagging the dog.
The GOP establishment has always had a monopoly on money, thanks to its unfettered access to the Wall Street donor class. As a result of this power differential, the Christian Right, while energized and mobilized, would be forced to sit when told to sit by the partys big wigs. But those days are history.

Which means of course, that they like "reasonable" republicans like McConnell, Graham, Cochran and Chambliss, three of which are running again, and all the more reason to replace them.
One that was overlooked is my buddy TW Shannon running for US Senate. He’s more Conservative than ANY of those mentioned above.

Someone is REALLY scared their backup plan for flipping RINO’s is over.
Isn’t Broun the one that left ridiculed for his statements about evolution vs creation?
Dangerous?! Stop toking, Salon.
What a pantload! I believe the Obama campaign outspent the McCain campaign by nearly 3:1 and also racked up far more donations from Wall Street. Romney managed to close both gaps just a little, but the Wall Street money overwhelmingly favored BO in 2012 as well.
But what else is new? Salon.Com has always been a manure salesman for the Left.
“Isnt Broun the one that left ridiculed for his statements about evolution vs creation?”
If they did, I don’t care. They are obsessed with evolution. Frankly six thousand years of history is enough for me to deal with.
What an oddly worded article. Histrionic and paranoid.
The very phrasing in it gives a glimpse into the author’s tortured and warped mind.
Just my opinions, of course.
I didn’t have a problem with it myself...just trying to recall.
Regardless, in looking at the war chests on hand for the candidates, it seems it will be a fight between Kingston and Gingrey, with just under ~$3M on hand, and Broun and Handel down in the <$1M range....
Are you in Georgia? If so, what’s the feel there?
That’s a frightening amount of candor from a leftists. Usually they refuse to deviate from the public conceit that campaign finance laws are intended to keep big money out of politics.
Isn't there a Personal Bankruptcy?
“Thats a frightening amount of candor from a leftists. Usually they refuse to deviate from the public conceit that campaign finance laws are intended to keep big money out of politics.”
They probably don’t have to go with that sham anymore. They’re still pissed at the Citizens United decision. They got free reign when John McCain’s bill was made constitutional, and money could dry up for republicans but somebody like Barack Obama could rake in literally millions. Then when we had a few new supreme court justices and they gutted the law, they got pissed, because all of a sudden, the Tea Party came along and cleaned their clock.
ok lets say there is.
we are a nation of second chances. redemption.
so unless the debt was for murder or student loans every US resident has a fresh start allowed. (btw you must photo id for bankruptcy cases)
The questions remain...?
HAS capitalism in the US become SOCIALIZED.?. -OR-
Has socialism in the US become CAPITALIZED..?..
Or is one the same as the other?..
“I not sure about Bright
Isn’t there a Personal Bankruptcy?”
Yes, there is, but I haven’t really looked to much into it. If it’s something simple like he started a business and it failed, then I’m not really concerned about it. But if it involves corruption, then he shouldn’t be the nominee.
But either way, Graham should be replaced.
All 5 on that list should be elected!
Or maybe just a glimpse into the mind of the typical leftist.
So, you are okay with electing someone who has skipped out on paying for his debt?
Well, I guess he would do well in congress with that history.
