Even when Kansas City was a segregated town, Arthur Bryant's was an integrated restaurant because Arthur couldn't keep the white folks away. Eating at Arthur Bryant's should not only be an integrated experience, it should be treated as something akin to a religious experience. Arthur Bryant's barbecue was that good.

This is definitely mind boggling.
Not only the premise — but, yes the outcry if it were a ‘White only’ outing.

That said, I can understand some Black students saying
“Why can’t WE have our own trip and why does it always lean towards the Whites?”
I can also understand some White kids (Yes, even today) saying
“My Daddy and Uncle taught me ALL I ‘need to know’ about ‘THEM’ so I don’t want to go on the trip”.

But in this day and time to even be in a ‘position of authority’ to schedule such a trip is completely ‘out of line’.

Granted, if the School District were to offer BOTH trips at the same time, for the same price and the same ‘extras’ you can imagine which students would sign up for which trip.

THEN the SWRHTF.......

OK, Here's what I think. Olathe South High is mostly made up of white kids. A trip to the museums and Arthur Bryants is definitely going to cost more than the $9 fee being charged to the kids. It was probably affordable for the school to subsidize the handful of black kids, but if a lot of the white kids decide to go it will be very expensive. More buses etc.

By the way if I was a student, the tour would be well worth the $9.
