There's a dirty little secret buried in the monthly employment data. It's a secret so dark, so exquisitely threatening to the financial media industry that those who reveal it risk being expunged from the community like magicians revealing their tricks.
The National Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 192,000 jobs were added to the economy in March. The unemployment rate stayed flat at 6.7%. The participation rate rose to 63.2%.
Now the dirty secret: none of that actually matters very much.
1.The number itself is simply impossible to measure with any accuracy

2.The unemployment rate is irrelevant.

3.No one knows what the “participation rate” should be. .. Disturbing as it is to consider, 60% could be the new normal.

Obama will tell us what we need to know
All I know is that it will be “unexpectedly” higher next week, after they revise it.
If 63.2% are not participating, it means the 36.8% are not working - the real unemployment rate ... the 6.7 whatever is just playing with statistics for politics and public consumption.
The dirty little secret is that one of the government’s mouthpieces, Yahoo Finance Breakout, is aware how bad unemployment is and is looking for a scapegoat. They are blaming it on retiring baby boomers. We are the reason the participation rate is so low.
Government mouthpieces are actually terrified because even counting part time jobs as real jobs the labor participation rate keeps dropping.
Part of the problem is we have sent quite a large number of formerly American jobs, to other countries.
Bring them back to America, I say.
The dirty little secret is that Obama minions trimmed the work force by millions starting in 2008. Go back to the beginning of record keeping and even during the great depression, WWII and other wars we never leveled out or dropped in work age eligible citizens. Not until the magical knucklehead took over.
He plays fast and loose with numbers. Un-Employment, Number of people signed up for DemocratCare Insurance, the budget, campaign contributions, if it has a number, Barry is going to blur and distort it.

Many older Americans are working longer because they have to [ need the money ] and because they have the work skills that many younger people have not yet learned [ showing up to work ready, willing, and able ].
53 percent of recently college graduates are unemployed or underemployed.
I guess they consider laid off boomers as retired. It's hard to get a good job when you're "retired" and past 50 yrs old.

You know I understand this you understand this how is it that the 6.7% figure is not a bigger joke?
A true employment number should not include public sector employees.But I know I’m way out of line here...
