Hours before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, former President Bill Clinton told an audience in Australia about his missed chance to kill attack mastermind Osama bin Laden, according to audio released this week.

Clinton was speaking at a business meeting in Melbourne when the topic turned to terrorism.

“I’m just saying, you know, if I were Osama bin Laden ... He’s a very smart guy. I spent a lot of time thinking about him. And I nearly got him once,” Clinton said in the audio, which was recorded by former Liberal Party head Michael Kroger and aired by Sky News.

“I nearly got him. And I could have killed him, but I would have had to destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and children, and then I would have been no better than him.

There is also other audio of him saying another country had OBL in custody and he made some excuse why we couldn’t hold him.

Just saying that Clinton might have done the right thing if it weren’t for the advice of Madeline Albright. He was merely a grifter out for himself. He didn’t hate America.

Dig through the old files

Sandy Burger already did that, stuffed them in his pants and socks.

Perhaps. Albright was one of the biggest disasters of an SoS in history, but quickly handed the title over to Hillary and now Kerry.

Clinton was not anti-American like Obama is. Even his narcissism paled by comparison. The only way in which Clinton really surpasses Obama is in his sexual escapades, and at least then he was hetero.

Didn't he have bin Laden in Sudan and Kosovo?

Dick Polman of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote in 2002 that Clinton “spurned Sudan’s offer [in 1996] to hand over bin Laden because the United States lacked enough evidence to indict him.”

"Mr. Richard Clarke, Mr. Sandy Berger, President Clinton are lying about the opportunities they had to kill Osama bin Laden. That's the plain truth, the exact truth." Michael Scheuer, a 22-year veteran of the CIA

I've heard that Clinton/Administration efforts to boot him from the Sudan might have been the impetus for the 9/11 attacks.

Allegedly, UBL was minding his own business, growing sunflowers, when he was expelled, sans compensation for his business.

Now, whether he was really retiring from terrorism, or planning and organizing attacks is another question.

Well, he did claim that he knew it was UBL when he heard about the attacks.

Naturally, it was his legal counsel that happened to be with him at the time, unable to contradict if asked...

I was so ticked off at Bush from expediting Bubba's return to the US (he was Down Under) when air travel was suspended.

Didn't Bush have more immediate and important things to concern himself with?

See post #10. I'm no apologist for the dirtbag. Just saying that he is more loyal to the Clintons than an ideology. He occasional would do something right for political reasons. Welfare reform, for example.

“He was merely a grifter out for himself. He didn’t hate America.”

That seems accurate

times Clinton refused to take him out.

I don’t like Clinton, I never liked Clinton, but I’m not going to pile on this. I’m pretty sure if he’d known 9/11 was going to happen, he’d have gone ahead and bombed the village.

The issue is that his weakness and indecision as Commander in Chief cost lives, not that he deliberately allowed the attack to take place as a strategy.

No he wouldn’t. Shortly after 9/11 he was in europe blaming the United States and George Bush. The democrat party under control of the clintons went on the attack against America. It backfired when obama manage to get elected over Hillary as the party members became sick of the clintons. (not of their actions against America)
