Hedy Epstein, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor and vocal opponent of the Gaza blockade, was arrested...she was put in plastic handcuffs and led away by officers for failure to disburse, reported the Times of Israel. "I didn’t think I would have to do it when I was 90. We need to stand up today so that people won’t have to do this when they’re 90."

I wonder if Hedy realizes that these protestors are the same people who run around attacking “Jewish interlopers” in black neighborhoods and who blame Jews for all the problems in Gaza.

This is really quite sad.
1) First, some 70-75 years ago, this poor woman was collected and transported to a concentration camp. Fortunately for her and her family (such of them as survived and, of course, and kids/grandkids/great grandkids that she has), she survived. She is, I am sure, 100% blameless for being collected, etc.
2) However, she was (quite understandably) traumatized by the experience. Many people like her have had their judgment impaired. They believe that because the Nazis were horribly prejudiced and violent brutes, that they have to be the exact opposite. Well, many times that IS the correct viewpoint - especially about the prejudice part. After all, prejudice is a very poor substitute for actually thinking and fairly judging a situation or a person. However, she has taken a past good thing that she (and others) did - marching with Dr. King, etc. - and very mistakenly (IMHO) taken this situation with Michael Brown and allowed herself to believe that it is a civil rights issue. She is, again IMHO, severely deluded.
As mentioned, I think that this is sad. The poor lady did nothing wrong, was severely victimized both during the Holocaust and for the rest of her life, and now she thinks that she’s doing the right thing. Based on what I know, she’s been conned - or perhaps she’s just a useful idiot. Sad, sad, sad. Kudos for her good intentions, but she’s just plain wrong and is letting herself be used.

Oh, and as far as supporting any of the Arabs against Israel, she is DEFINITELY as useLESS idiot - and apparently always was. Again, I would attribute that to her Holocaust-induced lifelong trauma.
Where I lose sympathy for her is in this area - because I have known a few Holocaust survivors and ALL of them, to a person, were extremely pro-Israel. So Epstein has no excuse for that.

No, she didn't. Calling her a "Holocaust survivor" is somewhat misleading; she was evacuated to Britain in 1939 with other Jewish children. Members of her family died in the Holocaust.
There was woman named Gerda Lerner who was a Holocaust survivor and a committed communist who taught at the UW-Madison for many years and died recently. She never recanted her communist beliefs. So was she someone to be honored or reviled? Was Benedict Arnold a hero or a traitor? Arnold helped his country to a number victories early in the war. Then he betrayed it. So guess what I think of Red Gerner. Surviving an evil like Nazism does not automatically make you a hero.
I hate to say it but I bet she volunteered to get in the cattle cars.
