once the democrats stopped apologizing for not wanting to build a mosque, the tower went up pretty quickly.

That is what modern communication towers look like. Being that the building is so tall, the entire top is brimming with antenna equipment. Every cell phone company, radio station, communications company and enterprise, including the government, that has satellites and the need to communicate with them want to have space on the highest building in the most wired city in the World.

The port authority had to approve it..then they had to decide on what kind of memorial to place there (it had to be PC and not mention Islam or Muslims). Then the investors probably had to be convinced to put the money up with them realizing that Muslim will always consider it a target to destroy in order to spread Islam.

On this forum, about 3 days after the towers fell, I predicted that it would be more than a decade before an occupied building was returned to that site.

And it took even longer than that. But it is a nice looking building.

Looks even more ominous in the building reflection.

The minaret topper is quite the distraction though.

Well we all have seen what Obama vowed:

Actually, it probably really is. Those are maintenance platforms for electronics on the antenna. It is simply an efficient way to build those types of monster antennas...

That's the antenna tower. It was supposed to be covered by a fiberglass "radome", which would give it more visual heft, while still allowing the antennas to work.

The radome was budgeted as costing $20 million. (which means: it really should of cost $5 million, but with cost overruns, it would actually cost $30 million.)

However, once Skidmore Owings & Merrill took over the cost management of the building, they ditched the radome to save money. You can read about it at this WSJ article.

When you consider what this ends up making the building look like, plus the fact that it may put the overall "official" height of the building at risk, maybe New Yorkers can start a petition / funding drive to get the radome added back to the One WTC....

With the official opening on election eve, that vow has yet another disturbing meaning.

They should hire one of those banner-pulling planes to fly around the top of the building to announce the opening.

This is another 9/11 memorial with stealthy design element(s) as a monument to Islam.

Just like the original "Crescent of Embrace" design for the 9/11 memorial to Flight 93 near Shanksville, PA.

Angry Kin: 9/11 Memorial In Pennsylvania 'Looks Muslim'

"The latest Muslim brouhaha to erupt in the US involves an earthen memorial to 9/11 victims that "looks" Islamic, according to furious critics. The father of a passenger killed on Flight 93, which went down in Pennsylvania, is taking out an ad in a local newspaper blasting the planned "Field of Honor," because it looks to him like a huge Muslim crescent pointing to Mecca. The design controversy first emerged five years ago, but it has taken on a new life in the wake of the uproar over Manhattan's proposed Islamic center."

"The National Park Service, which changed the title of the memorial from Crescent of Embrace to the Circle of Embrace and had a few other alterations made, dismissed the fresh criticism, saying any design concerns have been addressed. But the ad, paid for by Tom Burnett and Alec Rawls, author of Crescent of Betrayal: Dishonoring the Heroes, will still run tomorrow and Saturday. "A more obvious tribute to the terrorists is hard to imagine," it reads. The memorial will serve in essence as a "Ground Zero mosque" in Pennsylvania"

Architect Explains Changes To Shanksville 9/11 Memorial

"In 2005, relatives of those who died on Flight 93 helped select Paul Murdoch's winning design for a memorial out of some 1,000 entries. The remote area proved a challenge. It is a former coal-mining site that required major soil and water cleanup. There also were landowner conflicts and a controversy over a crescent in the design that some took to be a Muslim symbol in the original plan."

"To quiet debate, the design was altered from the original crescent shape, and the project eventually will feature a 93-foot-high Tower of Voices containing 40 wind chimes -- one for each passenger and crew member who died -- and 40 groves of red maple trees that will line a circular walkway that follows the natural bowl shape of the land, a result of the surface mining."

Crescent Memorial: Flight 93 Page

"The minaret-like Tower of Voices is formed in the shape of a crescent and is cut at an angle at the top so that its crescent arms reach up to the sky, as seen on mosque minarets across most of the Islamic world."

13 years. Gotta love NYC.

Anywhere else in the country could have had this done in four.

So a lone building rose from the ashes and it has a minaret on top?

Thank Mayor Bloomturd for that. He accepted money from anyone, especially George Soros and Arab oil.

All that security still wouldn’t be able to stop a plane in the wrong hands. :(

Thx for wsj link.

Sounds like Douglas Durst has an Edifice Complex. And thus the symbolism on the top?

Meanwhile, Donald Trump blasted Durst for his brother’s trail of murder and mayhem.

And so it goes in the wonderful world of NYC real estate.
