NYT: GOP ESTABLISHMENT GEARS UP FOR CIVIL WAR AGAINST TEA PARTY
Breitbart ^ | 11/8/2014 | Breitbart News

WASHINGTON — As most Republicans were taking a victory lap the morning after the elections, a group of conservatives huddled anxiously in a conference room not far from Capitol Hill and agreed that now is the time for confrontation, not compromise and conciliation.

Despite Republicans’ ascension to Senate control and an expanded House majority, many conservatives from the party’s activist wing fear that congressional leaders are already being too timid with President Obama.

They do not want to hear that government shutdowns are off the table or that repealing the Affordable Care Act is impossible — two things Republican leaders have said in recent days.

“If the new Republican leadership in the Senate is only talking about what they can’t do, that’s going to be very demoralizing,” said Thomas J. Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a conservative advocacy group that convenes a regular gathering called Groundswell. Any sense of triumph at its meeting last week was fleeting.

“I think the members of the leadership need to decide what they’re willing to shut down the government over,” Mr. Fitton said.

Establishment Republicans, who had vowed to thwart the Tea Party, succeeded in electing new lawmakers who are, for the most part, less rebellious. And when the new Congress convenes in January, the Republican leaders who will take the reins will be mainly in the mold of conservatives who have tried to keep the Tea Party in check.

But they have not crushed the movement’s spirit.

What you say is the exact truth.

Who really cares what they say? I can say that a tree is an elephant...that don’t make it true.

Yes, Rush did say the GOP would have been hugely powerful if the GOPe had embraced the TEA Party four years ago, then Rush went on to add that it would never happen because the TEA Party believes in small, accountable government and the GOPe believes in bigger and bigger government.

The GOPe just wants to be in control of the huge pot of the taxpayers money.

Interesting how the NYT published its election map in black and white this time. The charted results didn’t identify the party. Downplay results as much as possible.

Freepers kill me...
Back to feeling GOP love again

Pituful

God...I sure hope bashing GOP doesn’t become zottable like during Bush II years here (after he got elected)

Before Bush got elected it was profane open season on him

I have lost faith in the Republicans... they only matter on judges...maybe tax bills....and foreign policy to some degree

Well, the worst thing the GOPe can do to the ‘TEA Party’ is to remove McConnell, Boehner and Preibus.

That will make the TEA Party see who the boss is and without those 3 in the Leadership Role, TEA party will fold like a cheap suit.

If they REALLY want to ‘hurt’ the TEA Party, add Rove to that list.

By hammering home imaginary infighting within the republican camp it will be setting up the premise that obama has a mandate to go it alone becuase the congress cant even get along with each other and as dysfunctional as they said all along, the setup is a foot

Last week Rush talked about how powerful the GOP would be if they would just embrace the Tea Party instead of courting constituencies that will never buy in.

Yes he did and he followed up with that fact that the Tea Party if for Limited Government, you know that old pesky Reagan City on the Hill small Government thing.

Instead we have a crowd that is suckling on the teet of K-Street. I have been saying for ages why has any Tea Party Group pointed out that K-Street is the problem? Why will no one make the epistemological jump to go to Flat or Fair Tax to neuter K-Street and make them irrelevant? Steve Forbes was right and so flippin' ahead of his time it wasn't even funny...

Well, blame our Tea Party "leaders" for this. (And don't say there are none; many have designated themselves as "Tea Party Spokespersons".) They energized the Establishment to disrespect us, and/or ignore us all together, by coming out, getting on board and endorsing RINO Candidates in the closing days of the 2014 Midterms. The RINOs would have won anyhow, they should have just left it alone. The Establishment now looks at the Tea Party in the same term Mao Tse Tung (who is now residing in the darkest spot in hell) used to described the U.S. back in the '60s: A "paper tiger".

“God...I sure hope bashing GOP doesn’t become zottable like during Bush II years here (after he got elected)”

Somehow I kept off the radar and lived through the Bush Purges, although you and a lot of my other friends got zotted for the crime of being immigration patriots during the reign of our first Illegal Alien President.

I always wondered what was behind FR suddenly becoming a wholly owned subsidiarity of the Bush II regime. It was an ugly business and some of the damage done still lingers on, you just have to compare the number of posts before the purges to what happens now. Imagine where the country would be if we had been able to force the GOPe to enforce the law and deport illegals back then. Our second Illegal Alien President wouldn’t have 30 million illegals to use as a weapon against us now.
