He thought they were all going to be brothers
The South Africans burst into laughter when the Americans arrived garbed in tribal dashikis, while their group was dressed as usual, in suits and ties.
The difference is that African blacks (or Caribbean blacks) see America as a land of opportunity to better the lot of themselves and their families. American blacks sit back, bad mouth “whitey”, and wait for government checks. African blacks see American blacks as spoiled parasites.
“(African Blacks ) dont fit in with American blacks because they dont have that victim mentality so ingrained in American blacks.”
Same thing with most other non-American blacks. I visited St Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands in the early 80’s. The blacks native to that island were living off welfare and had the same culture as the bad elements in US mainland ghettos. The economy of the island depended mainly on a Hess Oil refinery. The blue collar types who worked at the refinery were blacks from the British West Indies. From what I was told t the west Indian blacks lived pretty much in fear and kept their doors locked and didn’t venture outside much.

I’ve heard the US Virgin Islands can’t hold a candle to other islands; I guess the welfare eligibility would explain that. I’m not into the islands, but the people there depend on tourism and will do everything to accommodate tourists.
You mean how they squat on toilets rather than sitting?
Or how their culture lacks toilet paper?
That likely plays a part of it ! Thanks.
