Jim Inhofe flips the script on Democratic climate-change-is-a-hoax vote

The United States Senate voted Wednesday to agree that climate change "is real and not a hoax." That was it, the full extent of the amendment to the Senate's slow-moving Keystone XL pipeline bill. Final tally: 98 to 1.

This was one of two traps set up by Democrats to get their opponents on the record as disputing the authenticity of human-caused global warming, a phenomenon nearly universally accepted by the scientific community. But it didn't go as expected.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) co-sponsored the amendment with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), who introduced it. Inhofe can claim credit as a primary inspiration for the amendment, having literally written a book called, "The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future." But Inhofe joined Whitehouse and urged its passage.

He was up to something. On Twitter, beforehand:

Senators - join me in voting YES on Whitehouse's amdmnt saying climate change is a hoax, bc it is. I'll address my vote in floor speech soon

— Jim Inhofe (@jiminhofe) January 21, 2015

When offered the chance to speak on the amendment, Inhofe -- did we detect a twinkle in his eye? -- explained his unexpected argument. The climate changes all the time, he said, citing both scientific and "Biblical evidence." There was a hoax: the idea that man was responsible. Such a position was "arrogant," in his formulation, the idea that people could affect the mechanisms that controlled the globe. With that distinction drawn -- the climate changes, and that change isn't a hoax, even if the role of humans is -- the vote was held. Only Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) voted 'no.'

It was a nifty, if insincere, bit of politics. There's no question that a vote against a flat statement that climate

More theater.

Yeah, Jim, wink, wink. We get it, but the MSM and the LIV will think you and the other 99 idiots are actually siding with the machiavellian administration on this one.

I would have expected better, but I’m accustomed to being disappointed.

When is somebody going to REALLY STAND UP to these statists?

What an incredibly stupid waste of time and taxpayer resources. There’s not an adult left in Congress.

Of course climate change is real, nobody denies that it happens. But the causative factors do NOT include “rising” carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

Carbon dioxide cannot claim that honor. Water vapor, which is from thirty to a hundred times as plentiful in the atmosphere, is a MUCH larger factor in climate change, and it serves mostly to keep the average temperatures moderated to within a relatively narrow range. Look up something called “thermodynamics” for a more complete explanation of the physics involved.

Here is what really happened with that GOP Vote on “Climate Change is not a Hoax”

I think it’s pretty funny. When the alarmists changed from man-made global warming to “climate change” they thought they were being clever because everyone has to agree climate changes. But in doing so they morphed it into a theory that means everything and nothing.

Dems whine that Inhofe tricked them, while many of us have been posting about the 4 seasons (a.k.a., climate change) for over a decade.

I agree it was clever.
The GOP has to learn how to win these rhetorical battles against the Alynskyites by not playing into their hands.
Inhoffe flat out did what needed to be done.
More stuff like this will put the left on notice that their nasty little tactics to heap ridicule on us just might backfire.
Plus the GOP can claim moral high ground by letting the Dems offer an Amendment, which is something Reid wouldn’t allow.
Nice to see the pubbies not getting played like a fiddle for a change.

Of course democrats think they can tax global warming out of existence.

It worked on the middle class didn’t it?

Agreed. We have to play the next two years smart. If there was ever any doubt, Dear Leader made it crystal clear last night that he has no intention of playing nice.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I could not agree more. The climate's been changing for billions of years with no help at all from humans. These liberal word games really anger me. They've been called out, finally.
