Montgomery County Probate Judge Steven Reed says he didn't feel any pressure to listen to Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Moore's order to all probate judges not to issue marriage licenses to gay couples "was a desperate attempt to defy the federal government," Reed said in an interview with Jonathan Karl on Sunday's 'This Week' on ABC.
Reed was the first probate judge in the state of Alabama to publicly say he would issue marriage licenses to gay couples when a federal judge struck down the state's ban on gay marriage, making it legal on Feb. 9.
"I think that is what places Alabama a step backwards in some peoples' eyes when they see things like this happen - the defiance and the resistance," he said of Moore's actions, "and I think we are on the front side of this and we are on the right side of history when this is concerned."

Following the law is now “defiance”
Following laws the left does not like is defiance..
Actually, it would raise Alabama in my estimation if
they were to listen to Moore. Sadly too many will fall
in line and issue these bogus papers.
Steven Reed: a subservient obedient slave to Fedzilla.
“a step backwards” . . . away from the moral and social abyss. The Leftist Commies are determined to open Pandora’s box and take a step toward eliminating freedom of religion. Once we were truly a great nation. . . .
Do you have any info on this guy?
“His political leadership includes serving on the executive committees of the Alabama Democratic Party, Alabama Democratic Conference, and Montgomery County Democratic Party. He is also a member of the Montgomery County Democratic Conference. Steven is married to the former Tamika Henry and they have three children: Kyla, Klein, and Karsten.”
Democrat.
All the way. And a former lobbyist. For what I don’t know.
I would have asked him if those that want polygamy and pediofilia are on the right side of history too. Those issues are next. Just because gays have won the marriage issue doesn’t make it right. It may be inevitable but that is different than right. We are simply outmanuevered and outnumbered.
“...a desperate attempt to defy the federal government”
If its not in the constitution, isn’t the federal government defying the state?
Pro-gay activist justices who ignore 10th Amendment-protected state power to prohibit constitutionally unprotected gay marriage by legislating gay rights from the bench is what is taking many states a step backward.
The Alabama Legislature should just start removing these Judges from their Jobs.
“...we are on the right side of history...”
This is the part I don’t understand. Why imply there is some breakover point in history, with the bigots on the left side of the timeline and the enlightened on the right? If gay marriage is a right, at this point in history, then (assuming no amendment has been passed), hasn’t it always been a right?
These judges act as if they’re playing a video game, and they’ve unlocked some special code that opens up a hidden level. Nothing is hidden...the constitution has been static for over 20 years, with no amendments. So where have all these new right been hiding?

“If its not in the constitution, isnt the federal government defying the state?”
Abdo-lutely! Hey! Reed! It’s a States Rights issue. Feds should have nothing to say about it!
Ah. His three kids initials: KKK. Democrat. ;-)
Good for them, at least somebody is on the case. I wish it were the Governor and the Legislature though, that would send a message this country has not seen in over a hundred years. UP YOURS FEDS!!
So?
Walking back from edge of cliff seems like a good idea to me.
