Its all fun and games until someone gets smacked down
The Washington Posts Robert Costa and Dan Balz interviewed Scott Walker yesterday. Of everything they had opportunity to ask, they chose to ask Walker whether he thought Obama was a Christian.
How Walkers opinion on the matter is remotely relevant or newsworthy is unclear to normal people, who expect the press to do that whole truth to power thing.
Walker, seemingly unamused by the obscure religion question, responded appropriately, saying he didnt know.
[BIG SNIP]
Because Walker did not play by their rules, he was isolated (rhetorically isolated, anyway) from the pack of other Republican candidates who have issued official statements. It was a lame attempt to paint Walker as a less than adequate candidate, but an attempt nonetheless.
Vilifying those who question authority is a wildly successful headline generator and a fantastic way to create faux controversies that detract from actual controversies like, for example, Hillary Clintons foreign sugar daddy problem. Clinton, by the way, doesnt believe the rumors that Obama is a Muslim, as far as she knows.
And so our national press falls yet another rung in their slow, sad, descent into irrelevance. There is a silver lining though: maddening as the interview was to read, its abundantly clear Scott Walker will not be presshandled.

Its nice to see someone who refuses to play the game.
Sadly the GOP has created the situation by stumbling all over themselves in a rush to apologize for everything.
I’ve read the entire piece that Costa and Belz wrote. It’s the kind of stuff you’d expect from kids of a college newspaper. Maybe the Post lowered their standards or just were looking for some ‘hit-piece’....but they ended up looking like marginal journalism.
As for Scott Walker? I think he’s ready for Iowa and just about anything that the national press can throw at him.
"Do you work for a college paper? That's a very amateur question. Do you follow politics? Why not ask me something that is actually relevant to the office of the president?"
"It sounds like that question was written by Valerie Jarrett. Seriously: do the questions you're asking have to be vetted through the Obama administration?"
"You sure seem to be trying to prop up the Political Elite in Washington DC. I'll tell you, I think the American people are tired of that game, and they want to bring this country back to the real world of taking care of families and businesses, not just taking care of the Powerful people."
Finally, someone who doesn’t fall for these tired old games. Can’t believe it’s taken this long. Sarah could have done herself a big favor by handling these jackals the same way. I think her big mistake was trying to be nice to them, unfortunately thats impossible.
SW has the eye of the tiger. I have complete confidence in him to continue to advance to the very top. I have already donated and look forward to helping him in every way possible.
I love what Gov. Walker said when asked about obamas religion, basically he said “why don’t you go ask HIM?”......... Perfect answer.
why dont you go ask HIM?
A more interesting question would be, why won’t the press ask him?
Love My Gov! BUMP! Ping!
Walker should tell them about his bald spot. The press can zero in on that like they did in the last WI election.
“A more interesting question would be, why wont the press ask him?”
THey asked that very question on FOX news this morning.
I think his religious leanings are pretty obvious to any clear minded person, not to hard to connect the dots. His 2 daddys were both muslims so, come on barry, we ain’t as stupid as you think.
The MSM, the propaganda, disinformation and dirty tricks department of the Democratic Party .
Cool! If any outfit was going to ask it, it would be FOX.
Re the MSM: They have been - have made themselves a fundamental threat to the (sic) democracy and in my opinion made themselves the enemy of the American people, and it is a threat to the very future of this country... Pat Caddell
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." -- Joseph Goebbels
A useful response might be, “Belief isn’t necessary when you can get the answer from the source. If you think the answer’s important, go ask Barack Obama what he is. If you think it is not important, why are you asking me?”
At a minimum, it’s an incredibly stupid and inappropriate question to ask anyone other than the target of the question. Why don’t they ask Obama?
